Good morning! It is a chilly 58 degrees here this morning, but it is expected to get pretty warm by this afternoon. Someone nearby seems to have been celebrating July 4th early last night. It was very noisy well into the early hours of the morning. Hope you all have a blessed Sunday and a great holiday!

I'm watching your church service, Mel. I saw the Oklahoma flag come into the sanctuary - the 1st man on the left was carrying it. I thought it was humorous that Adam said there'll be pie this evening - and ice cream next week. His sermon is really good - I'm going to finish listening to it now. I appreciate you posting the services. We watched 1st Baptist Dallas this morning. They had a really rousing rendition of Glory, Hallelujah! (a little more traditional than your church used). It struck me that every time I attended some training or conference at Ft. Lee over the years, we had an opportunity to sing Glory, Hallelujah!, whether as part of a worship service or to start a conference. I chuckled this morning & wondered if it's 'a southern thing'. It really is one of my favorites; it's one that I also heard someone suggest recently should be retired because it's no longer relevant. To each their own, I guess - I sing it every chance I get. ... opportunity, ability, desire, and no regret for having done it. And yet, we're not free on our own. That's a great sermon. Okay - see y'all later. I have a roast in the crockpot and it's smelling pretty delicious.

Hope you've all had a great Sunday, & a great 4th of July! There are fireworks all around the area this evening. The bigger displays a couple miles to the north were really pretty. The guy 4 doors down is the lawbreaker in our neighborhood this evening. He started around 8:30 & fired out bright, noisy things almost nonstop till 10. I'm hoping he's all done but I'm not sure. Fireworks aren't legal inside the city limits. The TV is on here in the bedroom; the central AC is running; and the dishwasher is probably halfway through a wash. I was hoping to have enough noise in the house to dull the noises outside.

Firetruck just roared down the street on the north side of our house. They turned on the back half of horseshoe street behind us. I'd walked out to see if people were setting off fireworks on the ball field & saw the firetruck.

Good morning! It is 62 degrees here this morning, but by this afternoon we are expected to be back up into the 90s and stay really hot for the next few days. The guy 4 doors down is the lawbreaker in our neighborhood this evening. He started around 8:30 & fired out bright, noisy things almost nonstop till 10. I'm hoping he's all done but I'm not sure. Fireworks aren't legal inside the city limits. Fireworks aren't legal here either except for the professional show that is put on at the local park, but so many people do it anyway that the police here don't even try to enforce the law in most cases unless something tragic happens. We also have a few folks around here that like to add to the noise by firing their guns into the air like they don't grasp the idea that those bullets have to come back down somewhere. And no, random shooting like that is absolutely not legal here in town, but we seem to have at least a couple cases of it every New Year and Fourth of July resulting in injury and/or property damage.

Now that's crazy. You have to wonder if those people have a drop of common sense. We've been up due to fireworks 2 nights in a row now. They actually stopped right about midnight last night. I slept soundly till 10 til 7 this morning when Franny woke me up because she had to go potty. The dogs & I went out back, and after they took care of business, the 3 of us came back inside, went right back to sleep and slept till 8:30! It's supposed to be in the upper 80s all week, but humid with little to no wind. We have 10%-30% chance of spotty showers every day.

We've been up due to fireworks 2 nights in a row now. The last 2 nights have been extra noisy here even for July 4. I was thinking that maybe people were celebrating extra hard because of pretty much all of the festivities being cancelled last year.

I think you're right. I've heard a couple of news anchors comment on that as well, how people were out in full force this July 4th because they've been so cooped up at home for over a year. There was a humorous photo posted to one of the local websites this morning by a resident who was out walking. The picture was of a trashcart at the curb and the top of it was all melted, and there was fireworks debris in the street. I'd guess the city may encounter a few oddball damages like that this week as they pick up garbage. I'm heading outside to move a pile of small limbs that came off the pecan tree into the trash cart. It's still so wet outside I can't get to the scrub tree at the back of the shed until the grass is mowed, and it's too wet to do that.

That's what I'm about to do ... soon as I see the 10 o'clock news. I carried 5 armloads of limbs to the trashcart from the backyard this afternoon. That was more than I was expecting. And then, I walked the front yard, picking up little cottonwood limbs and putting them in the trashcart. I came inside & took a nap. It wasn't quite 90 degrees outside, but the humidity wiped me out. I've been drinking water and lots of it.

Good morning! It is already warm here this morning and likely to reach 100 degrees by this afternoon. We had someone nearby setting off fireworks again last night but not nearly as many as the last two nights.
