I had hoped to get a look at the so called "Christmas Star" planetary conjunction this evening, but it is way too cloudy here to do any star gazing tonight. I'm sorry that you didn't get to see it. We went out and it was super easy to look up & know we were looking right at it, hanging kind of low in the southwest. We could tell the 2 planets were just barely overlapped, but not by much, and one was slightly more than half the size of the other. They were also fairly distant, so didn't look all that big.
On the one hand, the first thing that popped into my head was to tell you that you didn't miss much. But on the other hand, as I told DS after he texted to say he'd been outside to take a look too, the 'big deal' was that this conjunction hadn't happened in 800 years, and it's supposed to be 400 or more years before it occurs again.
The interesting thing, for me, is that I have been watching those 2 planets for a few months because they have been the brightest object in the sky, and, when I stood in the backyard looking to the south, I watched them track across the sky over time. They've been beautiful individuals all this time, and looked much larger because they were almost right overhead part of the time.
I agree with you - I doubt it's too likely the "real" star that led the shepherds to find Jesus was a conjunction of planets. I think it was probably a supernatural occurrence for that specific event. Still, it was pretty neat to stop & think about how special that real star was.
Well ... we haven't set the trashcart at the curb yet, and I really need to get that done. It's getting chilly outside.

Good morning. It’s 39 degrees here & 8:38 am.
I missed the “star” last night. Clear skies here, but didn’t get to see it.
Thankful we got to celebrate DD#3’s 39 th birthday yesterday! DD#4 cooked, as usual, a fabulous meal and had invited her siblings over. Thankful I got my cardio in yesterday afternoon participating in a nerf gun battle in the yard with 3 grands! Thankful as we were able to see a grandson that we hadn’t seen in a very long time! He is visiting with his dad. Thankful my DH, SIL #2 & his son were all able to go out together to the uncrowded range! Grandson’s 1st time with his mother’s permission via phone.
Thankful DH had contacted the plumber, as the garbage disposal had stopped working last week, and there was a small leak underneath the sink. The plumber fitted us in at the end of the day, and all is fixed! Some small piece of plastic had fallen inside & a fitting needed to be fixed around a pipe. I want to get a little thing to put over the garbage disposal so more little things do not end up in there! I’ve also had a spoon get chewed up already a week or so ago! lol

Good morning, Jeanette, Mel, Scott, and anyone else who drops by! We have a whale of a forecast for today, considering it's the 22nd of December. Blazing sunshine with a high of 70! Happy to hear your garbage disposal issue was fixed, Jeanette. "Little things" like that can be such a nuisance. Praying for everyone here in all needs. Thankful God knows all. edited to add: These dogs are a mess! FaithyJ proved she can't eat one of the dry dog foods, even mixed with Gravy Train & warm water. She left over half her breakfast in the pan, & as it cooled it looked pretty gross. I couldn't feed it to the other 2 because everybody has a calorie count for each meal, and they'd eaten their allotment. I ended up throwing that gross mess out. I knew Faithy was hungry so gave her some canned food and a soft treat she enjoys. Probably didn't hit her calorie allotment for breakfast, but that just means she'll likely want dinner a little earlier than usual. - I know, she won't starve based on one goofy meal, but I still felt sorry for her. She perked up after having that canned food & treat. At least now I know that particular dry food doesn't make into a good gravy and she can't crunch it up to eat it.

I had a rather busy morning. Today was my day to appear in probate court in regard to my Dad's will first thing this morning. It was originally supposed to be last Thursday morning, but it got rescheduled due to that big snowstorm that we had Wednesday and Wednesday night. After that I had to go to two different banks with the documents from the probate court to close out some of Dad's accounts and open a new account for his estate. Then I went back to our lawyer's office to do some paperwork to get things set up there for the estate management and the estate tax stuff. My appointment at the courthouse was the first one on the docket for today and I got there about 20 minutes before the courthouse doors were unlocked. It was really cold and windy here this morning, but the sheriff's deputies that were guarding the doors saw me standing out there and let me come inside early and wait with them for the official opening time. Law enforcement gets a really bad rap these days, but pretty much all of the ones that I have ever had to deal with have been decent people who go out of their way to be helpful unless you do something to make them treat you otherwise.

I had a rather busy morning. Certainly sounds like it! Also sounds like things are going well. We went out to dinner late afternoon. Ran into a buddy from the old Whataburger breakfast club group. He's looking much better than he had back in the summer. I think he's lost a little weight, and he's walking better. It was good to see him. I fed the dogs their dinner after we came home. FaithyJ went straight out back after she ate - and ran straight down into the old pool. She has arthritis in her hips so she's not real strong about climbing back up the steps to get out of that pool. I heard her barking and I knew she was in some kind of trouble. We went out & found her. Edward helped her get out - he more or less picked her up, and she's not lightweight. I'm going out to buy some of that orange safety net fence tomorrow so we can block off those steps!

Good morning! It is a chilly 26 degrees here this morning. I had a rather busy morning. Certainly sounds like it! Also sounds like things are going well. Yes things are going pretty well.
One main reason that I was rushing around so much yesterday was that I wanted to get as much of this stuff done as possible before everything shuts down for the Christmas and New Years holidays so that certain things related to some of Dad's investments could be kept on this years taxes.
The courthouse being closed due to the weather last week really pushed everything into a last minute crunch since I needed the letters of authorization from the court to take control of those investments on Mom's behalf.
Only 2 days till !

Local news is reporting that our area is under a flash flood watch for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with 3 to 5 inches of rain expected with temperatures in the low 60s and 40 mph wind gusts. Not to mention rapid melting of all the snow that we still have from last weeks storm. Maybe we should change the words of that old song to "I'm dreaming of a WET Christmas".

Not to mention rapid melting of all the snow that we still have from last weeks storm. Good grief! Do you have any waders? You might want to get Miss May some water wings. Hope y'all are high enough that won't affect you & your property if there is any flooding. A friend sent me the weather news in a message showing her area in Minnesota is under a blizzard warning for the next 2 days. She likes that kind of weather. My friend & past client who has the blue hair lives in PA too. She loved all that snow from last week. I'm not sure where she & her husband are located, but it's not far from their house to NY. She's hoping for several snowfalls this winter. It's pretty windy here today. It's up to 52, but with this 20-25 mph wind that's blowing, it feels like 46. The sun is brilliant, so that's a good thing. I'm going out to grocery shop & run a couple of errands shortly. Edward is getting ready to head off to floor duty at the office.

The biggest threat in my local neighborhood is a few of the houses at the bottom of the hill where the storm drains are still blocked up with snow and ice.

Praying re the weather ~ Mel, what about your Mama’s home? She has a house trailer. So no basement to flood and no nearby bodies of water to overflow and good drainage.

Good afternoon! Little has been accomplished in this household today. More needs to be done quickly. We are supposed to be at DS's around 4:30 ... I need to make a quick trip to Home Depot for construction netting, and I want to make a stop at Dollar General for whatever I might need in wrapping paper & ribbons, plus some canned Gravy Train dog food. Sweetie laughed when I dra- mat-ically asked, "Aren't you going with me?" Of course I laughed too! (I wasn't expecting him to go.) See y'all later ... Hope you & yours are having a great Thursday, which happens this year to also be Christmas Eve.
