That's great, Mel! I'm watching a special city council meeting with the mayor, council, the head of the county hospital. The CEO of the hospital made a great presentation on all that the hospital is doing to be prepared. I'm really proud of that group. The mayor has made it clear that he is terrified. My councilman is now speaking ... blathering on and on. I haven't had breakfast so I'm about to slip in the kitchen and make a sandwich, top off my cup of coffee while I'm at it. Edward has floor duty at the office this afternoon. I'm going to make a grocery run for some essentials - bread, milk, eggs, avocados. Hope you're all doing well! Attachment Deleted

. . . Hope you're all doing well this evening. I'm tired - this C-19 stuff is exhausting. See y'all tomorrow.

Good morning! Winter has returned. Feels that way anyway. The temperature dropped from 38 to 34 in the past hour; the windchill is 22. It's pretty windy out there. Our HOA meeting is canceled for Monday; our veterans' group meetings are canceled till May 30th. I'm not surprised at either of these; I am a little surprised that the members didn't expect it. Y'all have a great Friday! Attachment Deleted

I'm tired - this C-19 stuff is exhausting. It is, it really is.
WARNING: Rant ahead:
I don't mean to make lite of the Covid-19 situation, but I still think that things are being blown all out of proportion by the media and government officials of a certain political bent.
The latest death figures for the US (as of noon today) is 6,574. US population is roughly 328,000,000. Deaths per capita is far less than even 1% of 1%. And most of those deaths were very elderly people and nearly all of them had very serious preexisting health conditions (which makes me question what the actual cause of death was for many of them).
The media has some people I know so freaked out that this is an apocalyptic end of the world plague that I am honestly worried about what they might do to themselves if this goes on much longer.
In the last few days, local news has already reported a few suicides and one attempted murder-suicide (thankfully the innocent party survived her wounds) by people who were convinced that covid-19 was going to be the end of the world.
Yes there is some cause for concern, and Yes we should all take extra precautions to protect the most vulnerable of the sort that are appropriate any time that a highly contagious disease is going around; but is crashing the entire economy and scaring people completely out of their wits really going to help the situation?

Infant Baptisms during social distancing ... That's too, too funny! We have a well seasoned pot of chili with zucchini on the stove. Besides that, I "baked" a round loaf of almond-coconut banana bread in my crockpot. It's about 6" diameter and 2-3 inches tall. It smells delicious. It's cooling right now Later: That banana bread is delicious! Quick & easy to make as well.

I think the temperature topped out a degree or two above 40, but it never did feel comfortable outside. We each found a mask pattern online that we like so we're going to practice folding them tomorrow. You know us, it's become an engineering challenge. I'm trying a new recipe for breakfast in the morning - salmon hash. It'll be a team effort. I'll put together everything in the recipe except the eggs. Edward will try those & add them at the end. It's going to be cold overnight so I tossed an old comforter on the bed. Y'all stay warm.

Good morning! It is a chilly 40 degree morning here, but this afternoon is supposed to warm up into the 60s and be sunny. We have a well seasoned pot of chili with zucchini on the stove. Besides that, I "baked" a round loaf of almond-coconut banana bread in my crockpot. It's about 6" diameter and 2-3 inches tall. It smells delicious. It's cooling right now Chili sounds really good. I might have to make a big pot of chili today and take some to my parents when I deliver their groceries if the store isn't out of what I need to make it. A young man I used to work with posted the following about Covid-19 on Facebook last evening which I though was refreshingly sensible compared to most of what I've been seeing on my feed there:

Good morning! Easter is one week from tomorrow! ... To be technical, Jesus rose after the end of the Sabbath that followed Passover, so on a Saturday night. Why we don't celebrate with praise & worship and a big dinner on the Saturday that follows Passover I don't know. Anyway, that means tomorrow is Palm Sunday. Hope your grocery shopping trip is successful and not too frustrating today, Mel. We really need to go to Home Depot for a sheet of plywood today. Hope we get that project done - it's at one of the rentals. The chili was good last evening. Hope you make a pot of it - great in this late cold weather. It was all of 38 this morning, with a windchill of 29. I know the cold won't last; I also was sure we'd have some before the middle of April - we always do .
