‘Evening Folks!
DH’s latest project purchase is He's moved his workbench over a little, measured & picked up a two piece tool chest set ~ on clearance ~ from our favorite Home Improvement store this evening! It already came put together, although the top & the bottom actually are separate. Simple to unload it, after all!
We had a date day: late breakfast at DH’s favorite place, stopped by a retailer, as it had the pillow covers I wanted, picked up a few mini ornaments from the Hallmark store, 50% off all their Christmas stuff, but I resisted except for a few mini ornaments, and then our favorite date place ... the home improvement store!😂
Afternoon: DH checked out the home improvement store at a different exit, while I went to Walmart to pick up OTC stuff for him. I also scored a few bags of Hersey Kiss candies, as they had a huge assortment of all kinds of candies! 😊
We met up at Panera Bread for a late lunch, then DH went home & ciphered his calculations for the work bench & the "green giant"! Meanwhile, I stopped by Food Lion for a few items. Actually one item that turned into a few! 🤪
Now to continue to move stuff out that we’re not using!
Hmm, a new year approaching ~ out with the old & in with the new!
May you all have a blessed New Year’s Eve! May we hear the trumpet sound & rise up to meet Jesus in the air!

You are certainly right about the grocery prices having gone up some more, Jeanette. I went to the commissary this afternoon. Didn't have a long list, but added a few more things as I went along & remembered we were about out of them (like coffee). There were items I didn't buy, or at least I picked something similar but not at the higher prices. I was splurging to get the ingredients for the "Mama's Secret Christmas Eve Chex Mix" that I'm making tomorrow. I also bought some raspberry spread that will go into the baked brie we're making on Monday. There were coupons for the fruit spread, so I bought 4 jars ($1.00 off on 2 jars for a total of $2.00 off on 4 jars). We don't eat a wide variety of jelly-type items but we'll like these fruit spreads. The raspberry and blackberry fruit spreads are seedless. Besides those 2, I picked up a jar each of blueberry and apricot. For tonight's dinner, we polished off the little bit of leftovers from Christmas dinner. We had dinner rolls, a chunk of roast with broth, and a small cube of fruitcake. We ate that, along with some Amish potato salad and sliced spicy radish. That made a great meal. See y'all tomorrow ~ . Happy New Year's Eve!

Good morning! It is a cold but otherwise beautiful 38 degrees here this morning. There was no sermon at church this morning. As we have done for the last few years, the last Sunday of the year was set aside as a time for several members of the congregation to give their testimony followed by Communion. Praying for all needs of our members and their loved ones today. I wish you all a safe and Happy New Year's Eve!

I took down the Christmas wreath on the front door this afternoon. This evening, I am having dinner with two of my sisters-in-law. I probably won't stay up late enough to ring in the New Year at midnight, but we'll see.

We were up to 50 degrees, a couple hours ago, but we're back down to 49 at the moment. That coming coldfront may be knocking at our door already. The Babylon Bee has an excellent recap of 2023. I couldn't find it on their website, but Edward had found it on fb. It's long - something like 46 minutes - but they hit the nail on the head in the brief sketches strung together, over and over again. It really is worth the watch if you find it. We may, or may not, stay up to "ring in the New Year" tonight. One of the resolutions on my short list is to get. more. sleep. That means of course that I need to be in bed no later than 11 p.m. on a regular basis. It's normal for me to stay up to between 12:00 and 12:30 a.m. Lately, I've been up till 1 a.m. - for no good reason. I just read a great article that goes along with the general tone of my short list. It's about the one emotion that keeps a person from accomplishing their goals - it's ambivalence. *sigh* Hit the nail on the head, and I wasn't even looking for it, so I'll credit Divine Intervention with that. To top it off, my closest cousin on mom's side of the family, is actually doing a major de-clutter/clean out the whole house move. We talked about it on fb this afternoon and I told her that's one of my big things for 2024, and I'm not putting off getting started. So, I elected her to be my check-in buddy to have some accountability for the project, as the year goes along. So you see how I really don't have any excuse now. Pup Nikki is learning to play tug-o-war. We were playing a bit ago and she had a ball. We'd each tug a few times on an old dish towel she's been carrying around and then I'd let go and cheer and declare that she'd won that round! She wanted Milo to play that game too, but he couldn't seem to figure out what she wanted so he glued himself to me - he wanted some mommy time. I told them I have to get busy on some work so they're both now napping. Hope you each and all have a great rest of the day - and tonight, if you stay up till midnight. Happy New Year! I y'all!

Good morning! It is a rainy 34 degrees here this morning, and our forecast high for today is only 41. I didn't sleep too well last night. Lots of fireworks and shooting in the neighborhood. Things seem to have finally quieted down this morning, so I think that I am going to go back to bed for a little while. Hope you all have a great day and a blessed new year!

Good morning! Happy New Year! I'm praying 2024 brings us a lot of good experiences, and - with God's Help - lets me close the book on old financial items that are still muddying up my life. Not blaming God for getting me into anything, but praying His Holy Spirit will keep me moving forward to dot the i's, cross the t's, pay the bills, and sign off to close some accounts. I was in bed before midnight, thanks to Edward's help with the dogs, and up at 7:35 on the dot. I had the dogs fed by 8 a.m. and they're happily romping in the backyard/running in & out of the house. I'm about to head off the the older home store & lumberyard because they have a sale going on and I want to get a particular storage crate they have a great price on but limited quantities of. At 9 a.m.it's 31 and overcast, but no moisture expected today. The high isn't expected to get out of the mid-40s. I hope you got some good sleep when you went back to bed this morning, Mel. Stay warm, Jeanette - hope you're enjoying time with your kiddos and grands.

It is sooo cold outside! The air is full of moisture - feels like snow! The wind is blowing, not hard but hard enough to make me wish I had leggings on under these old jeans. These 27-gallon storage containers were running out the door when I parked right up front at the home store&lumberyard. The asking price was $9.99 & I found out at the checkout stand that I had $12 & change on my 'friends 'n family' account (every time you spend $ and swipe your family club card, you get points worth cents-to-dollars off the next time you shop). I was thrilled - that storage container didn't cost me anything out of pocket today. The trip there & back took about 40 minutes but I'm still not warm. Think I'll try something hot to drink, see if I can warm up from the inside out. I need to see what these dogs are up to. Pup Nikki came in here wiggling all over and convinced mama dog Franny to get up and head down the hall with her. Nikki either wanted to show off something or she wanted Fran to come keep her company outside. What a bunch! Hope you each and all have a great Monday afternoon. And if you're cleaning out a closet, like I'm about to do, remember to look before you reach.

Watching the Rose Bowl - Alabama and Michicgan are playing. We're only 5 minutes into the game. It's pretty exciting so far. I'm cheering for Alabama - and they just scored as I was writing this sentence! later: well, Alabama lost overtime. I've been watching the Sugar Bowl, where Washington is playing Texas. You know who I'm cheering for in that game. After all the pretty sun we had this afternoon, it's turned off cold tonight. It's already down to 29 at 10 p.m., and expected to go lower. Well, it is winter.
