Good morning! It is a rainy and windy 40 degrees here this morning. One of my childhood friends that I have not seen in quite a while called me last evening. We talked for over two hours. Hope that you all have a great weekend!

It's sunny & cold here today. It was all of 37 at 8 a.m. Up to 50 presently, but it certainly doesn't feel like it. We've gotten off to a slow start today, but I think 1 more cup of coffee each & we'll be ready to pitch into chores and some planning for the year. Edward and I are celebrating our birthdays today. He's turning 73 & I'm turning 67. Nita and Iris surprised me yesterday afternoon, when I got to the office around 2 p.m. They had a couple of Happy Birthday balloons and a small bundt cake - red raspberry with white chocolate icing. The even bigger surprise was an extremely unexpected power outtage that hit a large portion of the city and post. They sang Happy Birthday to me and we ate cake by the diffused light coming through the office windows. It was pretty gloomy outside because it was raining. We wrapped things up around 3 - the power company had published notices and emailed customers to say power was expected to be on by 5 p.m. I told them this will go down in mental history as a memorable birthday! We didn't lose power this far east in town. I still haven't heard what caused this. We've been cooking. We had bacon & eggs for breakfast. I'm making a batch of pad thai with lots of sauteed veggies and a couple of small turkey cutlets for dinner. I'm going to look through my phone photo gallery and see what recipes I have saved there and fix one of them for dinner tomorrow. That's all the news I can think of. Lol Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Thanks, Jeanette! This has turned out to be a good birthday. Good food, good people to visit with.
Dinner turned out well. I cooked up a couple of small turkey cutlets, with a little seasoning. Edward cut up a jalapeno, a few of those Mexican sweet peppers that are so popular, and chopped up part of a white onion. I cut up a half block of extra firm tofu too. We cooked the veggies and tofu in the same skillet I'd cooked the turkey cutlets in with a little added sesame oil and Dash seasoning. To get to the pad thai part, I had picked up 2 pad thai noodle bowls at the grocery store yesterday afternoon (they had electricity and a crowd ) so fixed those in the microwave - and then we each built our plates with the noodles, veggies, tofu, and turkey. We got the amounts of ingredients basically right - just enough and not too much. We needed a little more heat so next time Sweetie's going to cut up more jalapeno. We also decided the tofu had somewhat cooked up, so next time I'll cut up the whole block. It was a pretty tasty experiement. I'm sure we'll make our own pad thai dinner again. This is an oldie that popped up in some files I was sorting online this afternoon. At the moment, I'm basically at this point. I've sorted a couple of closets and made a couple of bags to donate for the homeless. Filled up a big bag of trash to take out too. Hopefully it will be a little warmer tomorrow afternoon. Also hoping I can get focused a little earlier in the day. Lol

I'm thinking I need to go to bed about 10 pm on the dot because I don't know if lil' pup Nikki is going to wake me up early or let me sleep an extra hour because 7 a.m. today will be 8 a.m. tomorrow. She likes to wake me up around 6:50-7:10, bossy little hound that she is. And then too, on the sad side, Franny's not doing well. She's had a terrible time getting up on her feet and walking today - between the arthritis and congestive heart failure, she's about worn out. She doesn't act like she's in pain, but she's so frustrated that she can't get up & go. This whole situation is tough on all of us. The time change isn't something I'm fond of. The Oklahoma senate has voted to stay on daylight savings time when fall comes - as soon as the subject comes up at the federal level. That I would be fine with. I just want the government to pick one and stick with it all year long. Praying for a good night's sleep and a productive tomorrow, in whatever ways we need that to happen. See y'all tomorrow.

Good morning! It is a very cold and windy 34 degrees here this morning. Our area is under a high wind advisory until 8 PM with gusts up to 55 mph expected. Our forecast also says that snow is likely later today, but no significant accumulation is expected. I'm very sorry to hear that Franny isn't doing so good. Today would have been my Dad's 88th birthday. Praying for all needs today.

The wind is really roaring out there this afternoon. The temperature got up to about 40 degrees for a little while around noon, but now it is getting cooler again. I went to bed early last evening, but then I laid there awake anyway until around the time that I usually turn in, and then I was awake early this morning due to the noise from the wind. I'm tempted to take a nap this afternoon to help get over the short night last night, but I am trying to make myself stay awake until my usual bed time so that I can get on with adjusting to the time change. Edit to add: At 2:15 PM the snow has begun.

It's 63 and sunny this afternoon. This may be the high for the day. At least the wind is pretty calm this afternoon, compared to how it's roared the last couple of days. Nikki woke me up at 8 a.m. on the dot (new time), which would have been 7 a.m. yesterday. We went outside & then Leela, Milo, Nikki & I piled back into the waterbed and slept another hour. I had started to wake up & I think Nikki figured that out. She slowly along my side - she'd been lay at my feet. I reached for her and she turned into one long wiggle with a grin on her face. I praised her for being such a good dog, having let me catch up on some badly needed rest. I've got a load of laundry going and hopefully another couple of loads I'll get washed today. Still need to figure out what I'm fixing for dinner. Hope you don't have too much snow, Mel. Hope all is going well with you and yours, Jeanette. Praying for all needs of those who come by here this afternoon.
