NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City law banning so-called gay conversion therapy would be repealed under legislation introduced Thursday over concerns that a pending federal lawsuit could lead to a decision unfavorable to the LGBTQ community if the case were to make it to the Supreme Court.
The Alliance Defending Freedom had filed a federal lawsuit over ban in January on behalf of a therapist in Brooklyn, saying it violated free speech between a therapist and client.

Another group, another ploy. If the NYC law isn't repealed, then the lawsuit might go all the way to the Supreme Court, and could result in the ban on conversion therapy being struck down nationwide. So, the LGBTQ crowd will settle for losing a skirmish in hopes not to lose a war in the near future.

The way I see it, even if conversion therapy didn't really work (and I believe the evidence shows that it does in at least some cases), those who want to attempt to change their unnatural sexual urges that way should have the right to do so.
