The Satanic Temple in Canada is planning to hold a “black mass” at a heavy metal bar in Ottawa this coming Saturday. The Satanic Temple’s national coordinator Nicholas Marc is selling 50 tickets at $20 each for what he says is a public black mass planned at The Koven on August 17. “To (the Satanic Temple’s) knowledge this will be the first organized public black mass in Canadian history,” Marc told Global News. Marc told Global News the Satanic ritual is “an expression of personal liberty and freedom” and that the “freeing expression is found in the blasphemy.”

This charade is going to include a satanic unbaptism, and a "sock drive for homeless shelters." Doesn't the idea of the sock drive warm the cockles of your heart? I wasn't familiar with a couple of the words in that article and had to look them up. This black mass goes right along with the falling away of people who have been vocal Christians, some at least minor Christian celebs - Joshua Harris, for one. It's hard not to say, "What's going on?!? " but we all know -- it's the end times, and things seem to be picking up speed.

Yes, I was just reading an article today about how Marty Sampson from Hillsong Worship recently announced that he is losing his faith.

I saw a brief article on Marty Sampson today, nothing nearly as detailed as they article you've cited, Mel. Good grief - these people who are falling away, turning away, believing they're discovering so much more truth than they ever got out of Christianity ... well, they're so deluded. It's like these guys have suffered some sort of major mental breakdown.

Good grief - these people who are falling away, turning away, believing they're discovering so much more truth than they ever got out of Christianity ... well, they're so deluded. It's like these guys have suffered some sort of major mental breakdown. It is truly tragic, but to some small extent I believe that it is understandable given how far most of the major church denominations have drifted from the teachings of the Bible in recent years on even major points.
While I have never personally doubted my faith in Christ to any significant degree, I most definitely am disillusioned with the modern church as a whole (meaning the Earthly institution of professing Christians not the Church in the sense of the whole body of true believers in Jesus).
When so many "churches" reach the point that they actively promote things like same sex marriage, openly gay clergy, and abortion rights while rarely or never preaching the Gospel of salvation, is it any wonder that those whose faith was even a little bit weak would be turned away by the obvious hypocrisy.
And don't get me started on the harm that has been done by the TV prosperity preachers with their "name it and claim it" theology and the feel good / seeker sensitive / anything goes theology that has become so widespread in some denominations over the last couple of decades.
Getting off my soapbox now...

More than 200 Catholics pray outside Satanic MassOTTAWA, Ontario (CNS) — About 200 people, most clutching a rosary, held a prayer vigil as a satanic black mass occurred Aug. 17 at a heavy metal club in the Canadian capital. Other Catholics attended adoration at Notre-Dame Cathedral a few blocks away or circled the block where the widely publicized event sponsored by the Satanic Temple of Ottawa took place. The day began with Ottawa Archbishop Terrence Prendergast celebrating a Mass of reparation at Annunciation of the Lord Church in suburban Ottawa. “Though Christ has won the definitive battle against sin and evil, we are still involved in mopping up operations,” Archbishop Prendergast said. “There are still skirmishes and outbreaks of violence against Christ’s bride, the church.” He offered prayers for the people attending the event and led those gathered for the Mass in making reparation “for the blasphemies uttered against God in our midst.” The archbishop was flanked by Auxiliary Bishop Christian Riesbeck and several priests from the Companions of the Cross, all wearing purple, penitential robes. catholicphilly.com/2019/08/news/world-news/prayers-greet-people-attending-so-called-black-mass-in-canadian-capital/
