Joshua's Altar, located at Mount Ebal in the West Bank, was vandalized this week by Arab rioters coming from villages in the area. The rioters burned tires on the historical remains and sprayed Palestinian flags and inscriptions in Arabic on the stones of the altar. Activists from Mavak al kol dunam (A Fight for Every Acre) organization who came to tour the place on Thursday were horrified to discover the vandalism, stating that it was a "result of the lack of Jewish presence on the mountain." A year ago, the organization revealed plans by the Palestinian Authority to build a residential neighborhood on the altar site itself, which the group said "would destroy the archaeological remains and prevent Jewish access to the heritage site." Following the destruction of the altar, the organization announced on Thursday that they would hold a prayer the following day in the area of the site to increase the Jewish presence on the mountain in memory of Capt. Harel Sharvit of the Israel Defense Forces, who fell in the Gaza Strip and was one of the most prominent activists for the establishment of a Jewish settlement there. www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-780702#google_vignette

Such a tragedy.
This Biblical artifact whose construction is actually recorded in the Old Testament has borne witness to the Israelite people's claim on the Land for roughly 3500 years.

Vandalizing this altar shows the level of disrespect the Arab rioters possess for the Israeli people and for Yahweh Himself. They may know what they're doing, or they may simply be ignorant tools of evil. Nonetheless, imo, their attacks on this altar is their - the Arabs' - attempts to pick a fight. The Israelites need to get out there en force and take command of this area, establish their residential neighborhood, and plant their guidon. That's Holy land - don't give it up to those infidels! Okay, put together one or more teams of workers and clean up the mess made by the burned tires. Bring in graffiti removal compound and take off those palestinian flags. The article states near the end: Baloney! I'd have to find out a lot more than just a sentence in a short article before I'd buy that idea. So, let's get some structural engineers and architects together, do the research and planning, and determine what will be required to repair the wall. Let's get on with getting it done. And, of course!, hem the entire project in on all sides with prayer and exhortation to Yahweh God to bless their steps and provide guidance from start to finish. (People are very disappointing creatures in this first quarter of the 21st century. )
