Computer scientist and futurist Ray Kurzweil has set some very specific timelines for when humanity will achieve immortality, and artificial intelligence (AI) will reach the singularity. The good news, if his predictions prove to be accurate, is that you just need to ride out the next seven years for your chance at living forever. "2029 is the consistent date I have predicted for when an AI will pass a valid Turing test and therefore achieve human levels of intelligence," Kurzweil told Futurism in 2017. "I have set the date 2045 for the 'Singularity' which is when we will multiply our effective intelligence a billion fold by merging with the intelligence we have created." In terms of immortality, Kurzweil believes that by the year 2030, we will be able to "advance human life expectancy" by "more than a year every year". Part of this β itself progress towards the singularity 15 years later β will see nanobots flowing through our bloodstream, making repairs and linking our brain up to the cloud. When this happens, we will be able to send videos (or emails if you want to think about the more dull aspects of being a freaking cyborg) directly from our brains, as well as backing up our memories. For Kurzweil, the singularity is not something to be feared, but something that will improve humans, eventually making us "godlike". www.iflscience.com/futurist-predicts-humans-will-achieve-immortality-by-2030-67965

More trans humanist idiocy. Personally, I think that people like this guy are just plain nuts; but even if their goals could actually be achieved, why would anyone even remotely in their right mind want to live forever in this fallen sin cursed world? That Trumpet blast can't come soon enough.

Personally, I think that people like this guy are just plain nuts; but even if their goals could actually be achieved, why would anyone even remotely in their right mind want to live forever in this fallen sin cursed world? Remember, more and more people are proving to not be in their right minds as the falling away from the church, Christianity, and belief in Jesus Christ and the Bible escalates. I know people who are incensed at the idea that Jesus is Real, is Really the Savior, and will really return one day to judge the living and the dead and to establish His Kingdom ... They're terrified of death because they are steadfast nonbelievers. The idea of living forever sounds good to them for many reasons. To the handful of people I'm thinking of, this idea of living forever thanks to AI will be the advancement in life they're looking for. (Some of those people are my blood relatives. ) I'm in agreement with you, Mel - that trumpet could sound at any second and I'll be ready to go. (Don't get me wrong: I've tried to talk with the people to whom I was referring. The pushback has been fierce and there's a high wall between some of the cousins & me. I pray God will bring someone into their days to whom they'll listen so they get a clue and turn to Jesus, no matter what they've been saying over the past 4 or 5 decades, before they're dead & it's too late to be saved.)
