Cleanup is underway at Forsman Farms in Howard Lake after a fire on Saturday night. According to the Wright County Sheriff's Office, crews responded to the scene off Highway 12 around 10 p.m. Sgt. Troy Wachter told KARE 11 the fire destroyed a poultry building with an estimated 200,000 chickens inside. Some chickens in adjacent buildings were also affected, mostly from smoke inhalation. "It's a lot of chickens. It's a hit to the egg market, it's people's jobs, it's a local community. So any time anything big like that happens, it's not good," Eddie Olson, a nearby resident, said. Officials say no injuries were reported, but there was extensive damage to property. The Wright County Sheriff's Office said the farm fire is believed to have been accidental but the state fire marshal is investigating the cause. www.kare11.com/article/news/local/farm-with-roughly-200000-chickens-burns-down-wright-county/89-f450f4c6-d297-4586-95dc-e9bd1b9063d1The number of farm and factory fires involving US foods production has been jaw-dropping over the past 18 months. You just have to wonder if it's really all accidental. Wonder if this will impact the price and availability of eggs?

I stopped after work to pick up some avocados & a half gallon of milk. Checked on the eggs & they are up in price, but the price hasn't changed in about 3-4 weeks. I picked up a couple dozen as a hedge against inflation, & in case there's a shortage.
