Hey it is Heather here. I have had a real adventure the last 10 years or so. As you may remember my blind husband was badly injured in a car wreck. What they never told me in ICU was that severe head injury victims are FIVE times more likely to develop Alzheimer's, which he did. I had my hands full caring for him and running the business.
He died suddenly this year while I was out running an errand, a heart attack. I lost the business and was unemployed for over a month before I got a job at Walmart. In better days Ron had gotten a life insurance policy to pay off the house; it did. So I can actually live on what I am making.
Unfortunately he was a heavy drinker right up to the end and he died legally drunk (.12). I poured all that stuff out and never touched it to begin with.
I have 5 cats now (Ron adopted some, I adopted others) which I can happily keep. I ride the bus everywhere now. A family member helps me run errands once a week which is a huge help. Ron's family were AWFUL to me.
That's about it. I hope you had easier lives the last decade or so!

Welcome Heather!
It's good to see you back at Prophecy Fellowship again.
I always enjoyed you accounts of doing the Bible outs on the previous version of our PF board as well as on Rapture Ready.

I haven't done any Bible Handouts since Ron died. At the end I couldn't really leave him... but he did go on several with me in the last few years.
I have handed out a lot of Bibles over the years, over a thousand, though.
Currently I am doing the Scripture booklet (World Missionary Press) in a bag of candy for service providers and actually gave some to the first responders the day I found Ron dead. Also sent some to the Fire station as the firemen ran off the minute they pronounced Ron (I don't blame them, they tried very hard and one in particular felt very bad about his death).
It has been hard, comes and goes, I only found out Ron had Alzheimer's when the autopsy came back. We knew "something" was up the last year or so but he was terrified to see a doctor as both his parents had an unspecified dementia. I was able to keep him at home and he died in his own bed the way he wanted.
I am ALSO doing my yearly Halloween candy handout with a scripture booklet for kids in a zip lock with a large handful of assorted candy + a full sized Snickers bar. Those have been very popular over the years and I plan to continue that. I will be finishing that today actually.

I'm glad you were able to keep Ron at home - it had to be more comfortable for him than a nursing home of any sort. It is hard - so be gentle with yourself. My late-DH, David, passed away 30 years go last month, and it's still tough, emotionally, if I sit down and think back through things that happened those last few months. (so I don't do that often! I thank God for good things in that marriage, and think forward through the good times since then, thanking God as I go) That's great that you're working at Wal-Mart, and still doing scripture handouts. I hope you'll hang around here with the few of us who are pretty regular here.

Carrying on our tradition of a bag of candy with a Scripture booklet for Halloween.
Work has treated me well considering.
