LONDON (AP) — Prince Philip, the irascible and tough-minded husband of Queen Elizabeth II who spent more than seven decades supporting his wife in a role that both defined and constricted his life, has died, Buckingham Palace said Friday. He was 99.
His life spanned nearly a century of European history, starting with his birth as a member of the Greek royal family and ending as Britain’s longest serving consort during a turbulent reign in which the thousand-year-old monarchy was forced to reinvent itself for the 21st century.
He was known for his occasionally racist and sexist remarks — and for gamely fulfilling more than 20,000 royal engagements to boost British interests at home and abroad. He headed hundreds of charities, founded programs that helped British schoolchildren participate in challenging outdoor adventures, and played a prominent part in raising his four children, including his eldest son, Prince Charles, the heir to the throne.
Philip spent a month in hospital earlier this year before being released on March 16 to return to Windsor Castle.

I knew nothing about Prince Philip's family background before reading this article. How fascinating! His own royal heritage - I don't ever remember hearing it even mentioned. Sweetie just walked through the room & mused on whether Biden or Harris have sent their condolences to the Queen? He's doubting they have - he hasn't seen it mentioned anywhere. He expects Trump has sent his condolences, but doubts we'll hear about that. I may watch some national news this evening to see if any mention of it. I shouldn't laugh, but I think Biden & Harris are both lacking in the social graces required of someone in their positions./just my opinion

Well, I'm not a "Royals Watcher" ... have only learned anything about any of them in passing, mostly from news articles.
I know twitter went nuts yesterday with negative remarks about Prince Philip, but I'm not on twitter & hadn't seen any of that.
Having read a couple of articles this morning, I can say I've known virtually nothing about the Royals over the past 50 years. Here's probably the 'nicest' of all the nasty things I've read ... thought I'd share it here.
edited to add: This quote above appears in Wikipedia, for one thing, and I can share the link to the article if anyone is interested. It's on the WeLoveTrump.com website.

Prince Phillip had many admirable qualities and did a lot of really good work for various charities, but he does seem to have been totally sold out on the Globalist agenda of population reduction for the good of the planet in recent decades.
He also sort of reminds me of Donald Trump in a way in that he seems to have had a tendency to speak his mind rather freely without stopping to consider how his words could be twisted or deliberately taken the wrong way by the royals' political enemies and the tabloid media.

Prince Philip Designed His Own Hearse From a Modified Land Rover
The Duke of Edinburgh’s coffin will be carried through the grounds of Windsor Castle in a modified Land Rover that he designed for the occasion himself.
The funeral will take place next Saturday at 3pm, following a short procession in which the Prince of Wales and senior members of the Royal family will follow the coffin on foot as it is driven to St George’s Chapel.

Prince Philip was within 2 months of his 100th birthday.
I have a lot of compassion for the Queen.
