Rapper Lil Nas X unveiled a limited edition of “satan shoes” that contain human blood and are limited to 666 pairs.
The “Old Town Road” singer is expected to release the pair of shoes on March 29 as a collaboration with Nike. The shoes start at $1,018 and contain “60cc ink and 1 drop of human blood.”

Promoting evil as if it were a big joke.

I think Lil Nas X is solidly sold on evil - not as a joke, but as what he thinks he wants. Satan has really pulled the wool over this man's eyes. As for Nike, it's turned out to be a horrible corporation. They're exploiting the Uighurs - endlessly. If you look at the tweets in the cited article, the last one is pretty accurate, imo. There's a similar article about Lil Nas X & the shoes on Breitbart. Lil Nax X is releasing a new music video to go along with the shoes. I didn't watch the video - the description of it was enough for me. If you want to read it and can't find it, I'll find the link. edited to add: my disgust and aggravation with Nike came out harshly in this post, I think. I hope you know, none of that is aimed at you, Mel, or anyone here at PF.

Even if there weren't so many very real moral issues with them, I still wouldn't buy their shoes because of the ridiculously high prices on most of them.
I've never bought any of their products for myself at all, and the one and only pair of Nike shoes that I received as a gift way back in my high school days didn't hold up as well as the $10 store brand sneakers that I typically got at K-mart.

That's great that your K-mart shoes out-wore the Nikes! DS has had a lot of Nike shoes over the years. I don't think I bought but maybe a couple pair of them, way back in his junior high days. I always thought they were ridiculously high priced, but he played sports so needed particular shoes for basketball. When it came to buying the latest, he paid for those himself after he started working. He has finally decided Nike is outrageous and he's stopped buying their shoes. He'll still buy the clothes, if he can find a good price. He had on a sharp looking pair of Nike shorts when he was here yesterday. He hasn't grasped the 'sweatshop' idea, and he'd left before we found the Lil Nax X story with the shoes, so we didn't talk about any of that. I expect he may give Nike the heave-ho sooner rather than later. Raising kids, he's really coming to see a lot of things that he just doesn't approve of.

Besides all the sweat shop stuff, Nike is really big in pushing the pro LGBTQ+ agenda.

Nike Denies Involvement With Lil Nas X ‘Satan Shoes'
News of the shoes drew outrage over the Palm Sunday weekend, with some critics slamming both Lil Nas X and Nike. But Nike was quick to distance itself from the Satan Shoes, pointing out that they're custom adaptations of existing products.
Funny how Nike is trying now to distance themselves themselves from this product after the backlash, yet seemingly no effort is being made by them to take legal action over the use of their trademarked logo by an "unauthorized" product.

Yep, I'm not buying Nike's so-called unhappiness with the evil shoes. If they'd at least have immediately sent a "cease & desist" demand through legal channels, I'd think Nike might actually not be involved. As it is, I think they're neckdeep in the project. ... y'know, gotta judge by what they do, not what they say.

I stand corrected about Nike not taking legal action, but I'm still not 100% convinced that this project was as "unapproved" as they are now claiming given the number of other customized Nike variants that the MSCHF have put out in the past with no legal repercussions including a few that were openly sacrilegious against Christianity like the Jesus "walk on water " shoes that they put out a year or so back.
Nike Is Suing The Maker Of Lil Nas X's Satan Shoes Nike is suing the maker of the viral Satan Shoes created in collaboration with Lil Nas X, claiming the sneakers' unsanctioned devilish theme is damaging to the company's brand. The shoes reportedly sold out on Monday within a minute at a whopping price of more than $1,000 each. Hours later, Nike filed a lawsuit, asking a court to stop MSCHF from actually distributing the shoes. Nike is also asking the company to pay for the "damage" done to its brand for making significant changes to the original Air Max 97 design without its "approval or authorization."
The company previously went viral for another modified Nike, the Jesus Shoes, which did not prompt a lawsuit.

No, Mel, at the time you said Nike hadn't taken legal action, they hadn't yet, by all accounts.
My suspicion is they took legal action late in the game because customers & the general public were going ballistic over the Satan Shoes. Just a hunch, but I'd have to see official filing dates on paperwork before I'd change my mind.
