A new study has found that Americans' trust of pastors has reached a near all-time low point in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, while medical professionals are deemed more trustworthy. In December, Gallup published its annual ratings of ethics poll where Americans were asked to rate the ethics of different occupational groups as very high, high, average, low or very low. The recent report looked at 15 occupational groups, including medical professionals, teachers, law enforcement, and more. Medical professionals were at the top of the list of most trusted professions this year, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic enters its second year. Nurses topped the list as a record 89 percent of Americans gave them high or very high scores for their honesty, which was up from 85 percent in the previous year. Additionally, doctors went up 12 points to 77 percent, while pharmacists went up to 71 percent after a seven point increase. Grade-school teachers were also given high marks for trustworthiness as many had to balance in-person and online learning throughout the pandemic (75 percent) A little more than half of Americans (53 percent) said police officers had high ethics and honesty. When it comes to American’s trust of clergy, however, only a few have found them trustworthy. Clergy was wedged between judges and nursing home operators. About 39 percent of Americans said pastors have high ethical standards, along with 10 percent who rated their honesty very high. www.christianheadlines.com/contributors/milton-quintanilla/poll-shows-americans-are-more-likely-to-trust-medical-professionals-over-pastors.html

Wow! ... My view of the world & the people in it is highly jaded at this point in time. There have been a few people in any group mentioned in that poll who I have trusted & respected to the utmost in the past, and probably still do today. Beyond that, I don't feel much trust toward anyone in any of those groups. As for medical folks, I have almost 0% trust or faith in them. I take everything I'm told with a grain of sand. Fauci, Birx, WHO, CDC ... they rate 0. So do most of the folks at our state health dept, and the county hospital. I prayed long & hard for a new general care physician & I was relieved when I went to my first appointment. I will continue to pray that these are the folks for me for a long time to come. As for the clergy ... I hold them in a little higher regard, but how much higher is probably not statistically significant. Still if I participated in a poll, I'd rate the clergy as a whole somewhat higher than I would rate members of the medical profession. As for others, the folks I know in a variety of professions make up a real mixed bag. I don't care for the profession of public school teachers, basically. Some teachers are excellent (like my bff), but in the last 25 years, most I've known locally have left an awful lot to be desired - in subject knowledge, classroom management, child development, interpersonal skills ... Those who teach at the university level rate a little higher on my list, in general. Some judges, a few attorneys, & a couple of funeral home directors are in my mental group of "great folks". I don't have many on which to base an opinion for those entire professions, however. _________________ I luv polls - but, wow, that one we're discussing above, is probably, really, waayyy too broad for me to give much credit or authority to. Still, fun to think through, nonetheless.
