Anticipating what they (rightfully) believe will become the most socialist-leaning administration since Great Britain ruled the colonies, conservatives in Texas are not planning on ‘waiting out’ Joe Biden’s term.
They want out, as in all the way out.
State Rep. Kyle Biedermann (R) filed legislation this week seeking to put the question of a “Texit” — a process by which the Lone Star state would become the Lone Star nation — to voters.
Called House Bill 1359, which is also known as the Texas Independence Referendum Act, the legislation called for a statewide ballot in November asking voters if they want to remain part of the United States or “establish an independent republic.”

Having known almost as many Texans as I have known Okies over the past 4 decades, this quote made me chuckle: Those Texans are strongwilled folks! My concern: what do they plan to do about people who are collecting Social Security, or collecting federal retirements?

My concern: what do they plan to do about people who are collecting Social Security, or collecting federal retirements? That, and also: Even if Texas would ultimately vote to secede and they handled everything legally, what are the chances that our current federal government would go along with it rather than starting a new Civil War. After all, Texas has the second highest population of any state and losing all those tax payers would be a major blow to the plans of the liberal socialists that are currently in control at the federal level.
On the other hand, the loss of Texas would also remove 38 electoral votes that have been pretty much consistently Republican and make the Democrats basically unbeatable in future elections. So maybe they would go along with it.

If those Texans worked out the retirement & Social Security issues, I think SW Oklahoma would vote to go with them. We have 2 important military installations here - Ft. Sill and Altus AFB.
That's another thing, if the current administration were to think it through, surely they would see the error in losing all of the military might that's located in Texas, and SW Okla, if we went along with them.
