Here's an interesting device. NBA players will have the option of wearing a smart-tech ring that could provide early detection of COVID-19 symptoms when the season resumes in late July. The rings, made by Oura Health, were the focus of a study that found they could help track coronavirus symptoms up to three days before they show up. If you had the option to wear this ring, would you? www.cbsnews.com/news/nba-players-oura-smart-rings-coronavirus-symptoms/

If you had the option to wear this ring, would you? Probably not.
On the one hand, I am skeptical of whether a ring could do what they are claiming with any very high degree of accuracy, and on the other hand I can think of several far more practical ways to use an extra $300 if i had it to spare.

I don't think I'd wear one either. Instead of bringing me any comfort, I think that ring would increase my stress level! Remember the old mood rings? I had one as a pre-teen and I looked at that thing almost obsessively. This Oura reminds me of a mood ring.

Have you ever told it, "Heh! Right here - see, I'm breathing so I know my heart's beating! You better get with the program, you device!" Lol I'd be talking to it! People around me would probably think I was nuts.

Barb, lol yep
Another fun thing right now, I take my temp at home The temperature thing that is out for other places doesn’t always register anything for me ~ like when I went for the echo test , they had to take my temperature orally lol
I also like when an office takes my blood pressure & nothing registers at first lol
So, nope I wouldn’t wear a ring

That's interesting, Jeanette. Different people's bodies do react differently. I had a friend years back whose temperature and blood pressure readings were so low medical people would panic and try to get her to lie down, they'd put blankets on her ... She finally found a doctor who believed her that she'd been this way at least all of her adult life. He must have noted it in her chart because her reactions didn't change, but people stopped freaking out when she was in their clinic or wherever. In my case, I had a family practice doc who thought I had lupus because of the way the tops of my feet had sunburned one weekend. They looked like burned toast, but they didn't hurt. I told her I'd messed up & worn the wrong sandals, that my feet always turn black if they get too much sun. She ordered all kinds of tests to prove I had lupus - and my results were off the charts. But I have always felt fine. She sent me to a specialist in a city north of here. His conclusion was that I do not have lupus. I told him I would be very careful every summer from then on not to wear open-toed shoes or sandals that exposed much of the tops of my feet. He laughed and told me there are a lot of people out there walking around with test results that look like they have various diseases - but they're fine, they don't have whatever.
