Carpenter bees. We have them. They are good bees - the males don't sting, and they're pollinators, so good not to kill them. We know where they're making their nest, and we'll monitor them and, once we think the kiddos are grown & gone, we'll spray the area with homemade citrus oil extract & water. Then, come fall, we'll fill that hole with caulk, so next year they'll pick a new place. We'll see how that goes. Lots of artillery fire today. Ge'dogg has had enough of that nonsense. He's retreated to the dark space under the desk in the front bedroom. Leela is on the edge of the closet here in the office, and Franny is under my worktable. Loud booming rarely bothers FaithyJ so she's wherever she's settled and ignoring it all (she's probably on the doggy futon in the living room, one ear lapped over the eye that's facing up - like a sleep mask). We took a break for oranges. Must have fresh fruit for the vitamin C.

Frustrating day. I dealt with friends and repairmen who couldn't answer their phones or call me back. I never did get an answer back on why I haven't received a payment from a charitable organization that was paying part of a tenant's rent last month. We spent the afternoon trying to dismantle a hot water heater that's 13 yrs old but should still be working. No luck. Looks like we may have a used water heater coming tomorrow afternoon that's affordable. ... I was hungry - hadn't had lunch, and I told Sweetie it looked like this water heater mess was going to ruin my cooking dinner (timing problem). I admitted the mess of the day was making me mad. We were out doing one thing after another and ended up at the office. While he went inside, I got busy calling nice sit-down-inside restaurants to see who has actually started back with dining in. Inside dining was opened up a couple weeks back, but not many have started it yet. When Sweetie came out to the car, I told him who was open & who wasn't. He laughed - hadn't expected me to do that, but was happy I had. We picked a good place over here on the eastside of town (not far from home) and stopped for dinner around 6. It was delicious! I had bronze chicken, which is a chicken breast that's not quite blackened , with a caesar side salad and green beans. Yummy! Sweetie had chicken fried steak, with mashed potatoes and white gravy, and a caesar salad. I'm kicked back, about to watch a little TV ... and have an after-dinner coffee. *sigh*

Seen on Facebook: "The only chips going into my body come with cheese dip and salsa!" I like that line! ... And hope that will always be true in my case as well!
Beautiful morning here. I've been out back with the dogs 3 times now. I think if I'd just pull up a chair and sit down out there to do some paperwork or read, they'd stay out till lunchtime.

Y'know, in many places, the covid-19 virus has hit nursing homes hard and several residents have died. <-- no matter what my opinions are on that, and I think the lockdowns on the elderly is extremely sad, at the least, I am thankful that has not happened here. Here, the big hotspot is the county jail. Something like 126 positive cases among inmates and staff at last public report. The state DOC has sent in a team to take over the jail, lock it down, and get to work relocating negative inmates to another nearby county's jail that has some beds available. They're also planning to transport some sentenced inmates to the state prison system's reception station, provided they're still currently uninfected. Then, they can spread out the ill inmates. They're also not receiving any new prisoners, so not sure where they're going to put new accused felons awaiting trial. This is a really big deal around here. Not sure if I should laugh or just shake my head.

WARNING: RANT AHEAD:
When I look at the extreme measures that are being taken in regard to this virus in most places, and the way that so many people are so totally freaked out by it that they are so willing to go along with almost any thing that the "experts" say that they should and utterly denounce anyone who even slightly questions any part of the official narrative; it makes me wonder just how extreme the people in general will react if/when a true global disaster takes place. I mean, this thing looks like the per capita survival rate is going to be well over 99% when all is said and done. Even the absolute worst possible case scenarios show 95+% of the population surviving. Compare that to the Tribulation plagues prophesied in the Book of Revelation where for example the 4th seal alone wipes out 1/4 of the world's population, and the 6th Trumpet wipes out another 1/3. That is roughly half of the world's people (with today's population figures that would be about 4 billion dead) gone in a relatively very short period of time, and that is just 2 of many tribulation judgements. Don't get me wrong, my heart breaks for those who have lost family and friends to this virus, but it also breaks for those who are suffering or have lost loved ones because of the excessive measures that have been imposed to fight the virus. Needed medical procedures, even life saving procedures like chemotherapy and dialysis, are being postponed indefinitely or even outright canceled in many places. Forced isolation is leading to record levels of depression, suicide, and domestic abuse. Business shutdowns are causing record unemployment which in turn is bringing about record levels of debt, poverty, homelessness, etc. It just seems to me that so much of what is being done is less about really fighting the virus and more about controlling people by leftist politicians and media figures looking to force through a socialist agenda using the virus as their excuse. Sorry for rambling on so, but I really needed to blow off some steam. Getting off the soapbox now.

Just a little humor ... and, trust me, I know where there are many more than just 3. When we lived out in the mountains & we'd take a walk in the evening, we'd see people spreading out to dodge these critters all over town. We've crossed a street or turned a corner more than once to "social distance" from them.

I needed that.
