Good morning! It's cold here - low 30s at 7 a.m. & only up to 39 now. "Feels like" temp is about 10 degrees colder. Brrr.

I'm taking a break on laundry so sat down to read today's newspaper. We've had an unusual number of structure fires since late July of last year. Seriously, I've known this town to go a whole year with less than 10 structure fires. Well, just in the last 2 days, we've had 4 structure fires and 1 outdoor fire (probably grass). They're not close enough to think we have a late night arsonist - we had that going on about 10 years ago in an old part of town. There was a suspect back then, but no arrests were ever announced and the fires stopped. No idea what happened there. Anyway, just thought I'd share our odd happenings. ... off to load the dryer.

Barb, I thought you might appreciate this one given your profession.

That's a good one, Mel! One of our fellow Realtors actually gave an older couple a big pack of Charmin that equals 48 rolls as a humorous closing gift early last week. The photo was posted on facebook. The couple was standing at the closing table with him, grinning ear to ear. I found a great local newspaper from March 15, 2019 - the City of Westfield, MA The Westfield News. It's so typical of a real hometown newspaper (as opposed to this rag we now have in Lawton, OK, which at best passes as a "hometown newspaper lite" ). I read the whole edition, from top left of the front page (there's a logo announcing their 350th Year Celebration) to the bottom right corner of the last page. Think I'll see if I can load a edition from this week. edited to add: okay, now I'm goofing off - gotta get back to housework! See you later.

Hi, all! I hope you each and all have had a great Saturday. Didn't nearly get everything done that I'd hoped to do today, but did accomplish some work around the house, and went on a hunt for a bottle of lemon extract. We're going to make some relatively healthy, low-carb very lemon cookies tomorrow. Sweetie said yesterday that he's missing his lemon cookies. He gave them up awhile back. I decided to look for a 'better' recipe vs buying a pitiful commercial cookie. We fixed a batch of zucchini gratin for dinner this evening. It was delicious! It did not warm up much today. I hope tomorrow will be warmer, sunnier, and drier. edited to add: I put the zucchini gratin recipe in the Recipe forum under Sides. I need to go back & post the changes I made to the recipe. It was kind of funny - I didn't have all the 'right' ingredients so winged it. We laughed our way through it and turned out to be 'just right'. I love cooking. It's poured down rain for awhile now. Drops the size of roofing nailheads, and close together - a very fast, hard rain and cold too. We didn't know that was going on till I headed out back with the dogs around 10 o'clock. That was a definitely quick trip! We're heading off to bed next. See y'all tomorrow!

I made an early morning run to the grocery store for my parents this morning. While at the store, I made an amazing discovery! It really does exist!

I love that most of the local grocery stores are doing a senior citizen only shopping period several times a week. I just wish that they were not all doing it in the wee hours of the morning. Yeah I know that it is so that those most vulnerable to infection can get in to the stores and get back out while they are freshly cleaned and as well restocked as they can be right now, but me getting up so early this morning really confused poor May. She just looked at me like: "What are you doing up, I haven't attacked you to wake you up yet".
When I got home from the store, which was around the time that I normally get out of bed most days, she ran out to the kitchen and sat by her food bowl as if she hadn't already been fed before I left the house. And the bowl wasn't anywhere near empty yet anyway.

After going the whole Winter with hardly any snow, our forecast is showing the possibility for a significant snow storm tonight and tomorrow.

I gave the dogs an extra dog biscuit this morning - Ge' assured me he deserved it, and I couldn't give him one without giving to the others.
We're planning meals for the coming week, and also what we'll be doing. Edward said we might have enough t.p. for awhile, but when I can pick up even a small package, I should do it - just in case. I agreed to that. I'm planning to go grocery shopping on Wednesday afternoon - hoping I'm only going to the commissary & maybe a Wal-Mart ... not sure yet, so many things could change between now & then.

Poor May. Did you give her something for a treat? Of course I did.
While I was at the store, I picked up a pouch of her favorite treats:

I agreed to that. I thought about getting some TP "just in case" when I saw it at the store this morning, but there were only a few packs on the shelf and both my house and my parent's house are fairly well supplied right now, so I decided to leave it for someone else.
Even under normal conditions, I usually get the Jumbo 12 packs that are the equivalent of 36 regular rolls. And when I open a new pack, I get another one to have on hand so that we never really run low on it.
I can't imaging doing like some of these people who were leaving the stores these last couple of weeks with hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars worth of the stuff at once. Even if I had that kind of extra money, where would you store that much TP? Especially since those were mostly the same people who were doing the same thing with paper towels, facial tissues, whole cases of hand sanitizer, etc.

Wow. 70s on Friday but 20s this morning. Almost there though. Sounds like our weather, Scott! Mid-80s on Thursday; mid-70s on Friday; down to 32 yesterday morning & barely made it to the low 50s by 4 p.m. (sure didn't feel like it). All that hard, cold rain last night, and it was cold & foggy this morning. The yard was far too wet to mow - lol. After going the whole Winter with hardly any snow, our forecast is showing the possibility for a significant snow storm tonight and tomorrow. Stay warm & dry & safe, Mel! That sounds like a total bummer! I really hope we have nothing like that turn up. Of course, I'm really hoping for no hail, high winds (tornadoes), and flooding here in SW Okla over the next month. It's cold in the house today - I finally put on an extra pair of socks and a zipfront hoodie to warm up. Hope you're doing well, Jeanette!
