Luv that cat-wrapped tractor-trailer rig, Mel. Edward is napping in the front bedroom. After playing outside mot of the day so far, I told the hounds they needed to come inside & "settle down!" They're napping too - Milo is on the cool floor behind me; Nikki is in the long hall, snoozing on a throw rug, and I can't see Leela but she's surely asleep somewhere. I have an old-fashioned custard pie baking in the oven - I'm not sure what the pie should look like when it's "done". Just checked it and I'm afraid it's 'not quite' there yet, but I'm not sure when I'll know. I came in here to look up the recipe for kimchi friend race so I can go backin the kitchen and start putting that together. I didn't find the recipe I've used in the past but this one is quick & easy and should work just as well. We'll see.

Well, I love the 'kimchi' we have in the fridge - it's fresh and delicious, but it's not the best version (square chunks of cabbage) for adding to the fried rice. So, I'm fixing a pan of Mediterranean Ground Beef Zucchini Skillet, and we'll use the 'kimchi' we have as a condiment (what we have looks like short spiralized radish noodles). You know, I can't hardly wait to try a piece of that custard pie - I've never made one of those before.

Good morning! It's currently a sunny 60 degrees with just a hint of wind. We may reach the low 80s this afternoon. Would 90 be a record high for y'all today, Mel? I'm waiting on the gas company to call me so I can meet their technician to turn on the gas at a house we manage that is going to have a section 8 inspection on Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, since it's been an hour since I took some meds, I can now have a cup of coffee - you know I'm about to. And then I'll feed the dogs breakfast. They were really good this morning, being quiet and not bugging me while I got ready for the day. Nikki figured out on Saturday that if she hides something, she can go back & get it later. She snatched a washcloth and played with it all day. She hid it between the couch cushions in the den and then later she hid it between the edge of the mattress and the headboard. I praised her for being so smart! Leela was teaching her how to chase frogs yesterday, but she wasn't too crazy about that - she acted a little afraid of those amphibians. She stayed out of the pool, for the most part. I think the water might have been a little chilly for her. Leela & Milo, on the other hand, had a ball chasing frogs. Hope everyone has a safe and joy-filled day today.

Would 90 be a record high for y'all today, Mel? Not quite. On this date in 2020, we reached 94. Temps in the 90s at the end of April / beginning of May are unusual here, but they do happen.

My Mother-in-law used to have a dog that would try to lick up the last little bit of coffee/milk/sugar at the bottom of her cup. That dog's name was Mischief, and she lived up to her name.

That dog's name was Mischief, and she lived up to her name. Houston D Hound Dog was truly the coffeehound. Sunday mornings seemed to be when he most noticed I was drinking a hot, fresh cup of coffee. He'd come running in the house & I'd be sitting on the den couch, reading the newspaper. He'd stand up on the edge of the couch & lean into my face. He wanted to lick my mouth. I think he really liked the smell of fresh coffee and the taste of it. I'll bet Mischief was a fun dog!

I'll bet Mischief was a fun dog! She was. She was a light grey Keeshond. When Sharon and I would go to her parents' place to visit, I would always have a few dog treats in my pocket. Mischief learned pretty quickly that she could slip her snout into my pocket to help herself to those treats.

... Oh, yeh, never mind there's an ape about the size of King Kong making a call from that working payphone. The gas man called me right after 9:30. I raced across town to meet him. It didn't take him long to light the furnace and the water heater. He discovered the AC drain line was disconnected. That's an easy fix, just typical of the last tenant who lived there. When we walked out the front door to lock up, we discovered two of Lawton's finest had nearly blocked the driveway, one on either side of the street. They were trying to get someone at the house across the street to open the front door. If anyone was there, they had their heads down & were making no noise. The one cop decided to walk around back & see if there were any open doors or windows. The gas man and I decided it was time for us to leave so we did. I stopped at Braum's to pick up a half gallon of milk. Their milk comes from their cows and it's the best in the state. imo. Edward fixed breakfast when I got home and that was nice. The dogs met me at the front door wearing big grins. They each slithered around my calves like cats. They'd been in the pool and they were soaking wet. I invited them to each back up - I do not want to change clothes before work!

Good morning! It's a gloomy, cool day but these clouds are expected to move on around lunchtime & it should be sunny. It's currently 66, shooting for a high of 82 this afternoon. We have rain moving in this evening, tho' not expected to be as bad as over the weekend.
The kimchi fried rice turned out pretty good last evening. We have leftovers to go with tonight's dinner, whatever we have.
I have small claims court this morning. Not sure if either tenant is going to show up or not, but I'm ready, whatever happens.
Hope y'all have a great day!
