David McCallum, who starred as Illya Kuryakin alongside Robert Vaughn’s Napoleon Solo in the 1960s hit spy drama “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and had a supporting role as pathologist Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard on the top-rated series “NCIS” decades later, died Monday of natural causes in New York City. He was 90. His son Peter made a statement on behalf of his family, saying, “He was the kindest, coolest, most patient and loving father. He always put family before self. He looked forward to any chance to connect with his grandchildren, and had a unique bond with each of them. He and his youngest grandson, Whit, 9, could often be found in the corner of a room at family parties having deep philosophical conversations. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Katherine McCallum, his sons Paul McCallum, Valentine McCallum and Peter McCallum, his daughter Sophie McCallum and his eight grandchildren: Julia McCallum, Luca de Sanctis, Iain de Sanctis, Stella McCallum, Gavin McCallum, George McCallum, Alessandro de Sanctis and Whit McCallum. www.yahoo.com/entertainment/david-mccallum-star-ncis-man-213015283.html

R.I.P. Ducky! He was fantastic on Man from U.N.C.L.E. That was probably my first spy series - and it definitely developed my fascination for the genre. And he was great as Dr. Mallard, all those years on N.C.I.S.

How ‘NCIS’ Will Say Goodbye to David McCallumNCIS will give a final farewell to the late David McCallum in a special tribute episode planned for February 19 on CBS. The episode will explain the absence of Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard in an episode co-written by Brian Dietzen, who plays Dr. Jimmy Palmer on the drama, TVLine reports. Executive Producer Scott Williams also helped to pen the episode. Everyone at NCIS felt it was important to do an episode that honors such a legendary actor, not to mention a dear friend,” said NCIS co-showrunners/executive producers Steven D. Binder and David North in statement given to TVLine. “In the episode, the team will learn of Ducky’s passing and reflect on their memories of him as they grieve. And true to Ducky’s meticulous and compassionate nature, even after he’s gone, he still manages to solve one last crime with the team.” www.yahoo.com/entertainment/ncis-goodbye-david-mccallum-201333436.html

NCIS will give a final farewell to the late David McCallum in a special tribute episode planned for February 19 on CBS. I hope you had the opportunity to see this if you were looking forward to it, the way I was. I recorded it & will probably watch last week's and this week's episodes this weekend, to be sure I didn't miss anything. Really, I'm basically hoping this is NCIS' last season (y'know, enough is enough after all these years! ).
