I love those bunnies! I don't remember Rochester eating strawberries, but he did like bananas. We gave these dogs little dices of pear yesterday and none of them like pears! I was surprised considering how much Milo and Leela like apples. Glad to hear your physicals went well, Jeanette. There was a Bob Evans on the edge of my parents' neighborhood so we ate there quite a bit the last few times we visited them, and while we were there to clean out the folks' house. I thought they had some of the best breakfasts. We don't have Bob Evans around here. We ate dinner at Polly's Thai Kitchen about 5:30 to keep from heating up our kitchen by cooking. The food was delicious! The restaurant is small, and it was packed - unusually busy. I wonder if most of those people had the same idea we had? I'm washing a load of towels and then I'm going to bed ... early. I don't think the dogs will mind. Franny is following me around and she wants something - I think it's for me to turn out lights and go to bed, maybe. She's finally laid down in the floor here next to my chair. Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep tonight.

Good morning! Our area is once again under a Red air quality alert due to the latest wave of smoke from the Canadian fires. People are being advised to stay indoors as much as possible today and tomorrow. That's terrible. You need some place to go to get away from this smog. Maybe home is it, but that would bug me before too long ... cabin fever. View AttachmentOur weather forecast for today says that our weather will be "mostly sunny with widespread areas of smoke and haze" Looking out the window this morning toward the neighbor's house, the haze in the air makes it look like we have a heavy fog, but it is just smoke.

Looking out the window this morning toward the neighbor's house, the haze in the air makes it look like we have a heavy fog, but it is just smoke. That's pitiful. for you and all of our citizens in the smoke today. People who set those fires - and I've heard that many of them were set - need caught, prosecuted, and sentenced appropriately. It's a sunny 89 at 10:15. Today's high is expected to be 104. I have to get envelopes stuffed and get out to post lease violations on a handful of duplexes where tenants have not mowed the grass. Then I'm going to the office & meet up with Nita so we can view a house some tenants have skipped out on. I'm wearing comfortable work jeans and my favorite red-white-&-blue tee that has a kangaroo pocket on the front (not that that's very practical, just strikes me as humorous). So ... as long as I stay hydrated, should be great fun! Hope you all have a good Thursday! See you later! Stay safe! edited to add: we topped out at 109 yesterday; not record-setting but plenty hot.

At noon, the visible haze has mostly cleared up and the sun is shining, but you can still smell the smoke if you go outside.

Good morning! It is 61 degrees here this morning with an expected high for today around 90. It seems that we are in for another hazy and smokey day, but the air quality alert has been downgraded from red to orange. Hopefully the worst of this mess will clear out of here over the weekend. I want to try to get some groceries today so that I can avoid the stores during the weekend leading up to the July 4 holiday. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning! I think I'm done doing work things till Wednesday morning. May send a couple text messages later this afternoon, but that's not bad. I'm going to the recycle point on post and drop off everything we have on hand at present that can be recycled. And then I'm going grocery shopping. Sweetie & I are planning to meet up for lunch at Olive Garden shortly before their lunch hours end. Hope y'all have a great Friday!

Oh, the spam mail I'm getting! Got something decadent from a Yacht Club. Now how did I get signed up for that? Think it was total spam. I unsubscribed, y'know, that's nothing but a waste of space in my inbox. But it did remind me of a poem I loved in high school. All I can remember are a couple of lines: "I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by. I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide ... I'll look that up later! Love you guys!

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide ... "Sea-Fever"By John Edward Masefield Published-1902 I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by; And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking, And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking. I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying. I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life, To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

I got my groceries and a few other things that I needed from Walmart.
Our air quality alert has been bumped back up to red and extended into tomorrow.
I think that I am going to make an egg salad sandwich for an easy supper this evening.

Our local news this evening said that the last remaining store in our once prosperous Shopping Mall which has been slowly dying for the last several years is going out of business.
It's hard to imagine that the 100s of stores and other businesses that once inhabited the Mall when I was a kid are all gone- Some relocated but most shut down entirely over the last 10 years or so.
I wonder what will happen to that huge (several acres) building now. The company that owns it has been trying to find a buyer for over a decade without success.

‘Morning Everyone Temperature here at 6:25 am is 71 degrees with an expected high of 94 … DD#4 & family are due in sometime today, from Virginia.
I’m slow roasting an almost 22 pound turkey in the over since last night. First time attempting this recipe & curious how it’s gonna turn out. ‘Slept on the recliner downstairs, so as to be able to keep aware of the oven being on.
Grandson slept on the couch, also.
I may drive out to the store for some items, once DH is awake & downstairs. Yesterday, ‘decided to bake some more ~ banana cupcakes, oatmeal lace cookies (triple the recipe), as well as oatmeal raisin cookies!
May you all have a blessed long weekend!

It's hard to believe that the year is half over already!
It is very cloudy here this morning. We have rain in our forecast for this afternoon and evening with thunderstorms likely.
