I hadn't even realized that it was Earth Day. I don't think that heard or saw anything about it this year. Not that I ever paid much attention to it any other years anyway, but usually there would be a fair amount of advertising in the days leading up to it.

I think that the last line of the article really nails it: "Earth Day isn't about saving the planet. It never has been. It's not about climate change; it's about control."

That blog ending is a telling one! Absolutely accurate. Not as much went on around this area this year as it has in past years. The city did sponsor and man a drop off point for typical things you aren't supposed to load into your trashcart - car batteries, paints, etc. There was at least one section of town where people volunteered to pick up trash on the streets in that area. In past years, the city drop off point was open a day and a half, and there were several organized 'trash off' areas around the city.
