Is this Arthur Treacher, of Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips?
I really loved that place! We had one in the Canton area when I was in high school, probably opened while I was in jr high.

This man worked in the fruit fields in California before beginning his newspaper career as a clerk in the circulation department. Working diligently, he succeeded at becoming the general manager of the newspaper.
A sign he designed to advertise a new real estate development in the early 1920s still exists today and, over the years, has morphed into one of the most recognizable signs in the world.
Who is he, and what's the sign say?

Is this Thomas Goff who designed the Hollywood sign?

Not Thomas Goff but you've got the right sign. This is the newspaper man & real estate developer who brought us HOLLYWOODLAND as it was originally called. What I read credited our mystery man with the design, which he used in his advertisements for the development.

This 19th century businessman gave free packs of chewing gum as a "thank you" gift to customers who bought his company's product, but the gum proved to be far more popular than the product that he was actually selling. So he started a new company to make gum that eventually grew into one of the largest candy manufacturers in the world.

William Wrigley, Jr - a hard-working, determined man who our American workforce and entrepreneurs would do well to emulate today (imo). I love this story of his life and business in encyclopedia.com. www.encyclopedia.com/history/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/william-wrigley-jr#:~:text=By%20all%20accounts%2C%20William%20Wrigley,brought%20it%20to%20the%20world. His great mottos - When he was giving away baking powder as a premium to customers of his father's soap: Wrigley advocated giving a bonus with each purchase. "Everybody likes something extra, for nothing," he often said. Wrigley used every form of advertising at his disposal. His motto was "tell em quick and tell em often." Wrigley emphasized quality. He often recited his basic philosophy: "Even in a little thing like a stick of gum, quality is important." He set the tone for the company by constantly telling his son, "We are a five-cent business, and nobody in this company can ever afford to forget it." When Wrigley died on January 26, 1932, his simple philosophy was summed up, "To be always pleasant, always patient, always on time, and never to argue." It's amazing how Wrigley's story hits home to me. I've worked for 2 real estate brokers, and attended training by a 3rd, who taught us a lot of those ideas. Not that they ever told us they'd gotten the ideas from William Wrigley, Jr and his businesses.

Yes! This photo struck me because he really looked like he could have been a guy in any of those professional fields back in the day. He had sort of an "Everyman" appearance (I did not go see that play, tho' it was an option for extra credit to some college course I was taking ). Pat Robertson definitely had an interesting history. The haters are really blasting him on the internet, and blasting God too. I know God could wipe them all out in the blink of an eye, for the things they are saying about Him, but He is long in His patience. I just can't get over how foolish those haters are. Hating on Pat Robertson is one thing; hating the God he followed is an entirely different subject.
