It’s now official, being a man’s man is bad for society.
New guidelines on men and boys from the APA claim “masculine ideology” is linked to misogyny, homophobia, bullying and sexual harassment, according to NBC News.
The APA characterizes masculinity ideology as “a particular constellation of standards that have held sway over large segments of the population, including: anti-femininity, achievement, eschewal of the appearance of weakness, and adventure, risk, and violence.”
In effect, where being a strong virile man was once coveted, in post-Obama America, it is now to be avoided.

This is soooo horrible. Men need to be men, boys need to be boys ... God needs to be forefront over all of a person's development. If I were still a member of the APA, I'd resign. Yes, I have a Masters degree in Behavioral Science with a major in Psychology. We all joined the APA and went to conventions and presented papers, etc while in grad school. I took my degree and raised teens and became a Realtor instead of continuing in the field of psychology - thankfully.

A good Realtor can make better money.
I saw this article on a news service. It struck me as written by a person who doesn't grasp the dynamic and prefers effeminate males. Psychologists have known for a long time generally males are mentally wired differently than females. For males its about stuff; for females its about relationships. Men cause trouble when they treat relationships as objects. That's no secret. And testosterone is a fact of male metabolism. Uninformed Psychology cannot change the facts.

Thanks, suzugos! Of course, it depends too on the local economics and a number of other things, but I definitely believe I have been, and am, happier to be a Realtor than to a licensed psychotherapist.
