Good afternoon! Another hot, early fall day in SW Okla. The morning was quite a production. We took little Leela to the vet for her annual shots, a heartworm test, and to be chipped. We've had her since she was 6 months old, and she's almost 5-1/2 yrs old now. She doesn't ride much, and today, she was nearly hysterical the entire ride across town to the vet's office. It was no better once we went inside there - she even nipped at my hands while the vet was trying to look her over. The tech suggested they take her in the back where she couldn't see us and maybe she'd settle down at least a little. The tech held in a bear hug, basically, while she had all of her shots and blood work, and chip insert. It didn't take long. She came back and climbed all over Edward - she loves me, but she loves him a little bit better. She was still wild all the way home and has only flopped in the floor in the past 10 minutes. I hope she sleeps all afternoon! Post artillery is firing heavily today so we have three scared dogs - Leela, Ge', and Fran. That probably didn't help Leela either this morning. A border collie who belongs to a friend of ours had a seizure this morning, which apparently was a first. He seems to be okay, still at the vet's and being evaluated. I messaged our friend to ask if his dog is frightened by the artillery fire - it has a really deep rumble to it today, whatever they're firing is pretty heavy stuff, and they've been firing constantly since maybe around 7 a.m. Our blue heeler-German shepherd mix occasionally had seizures, and this type of artillery fire is one thing that set her off. We've had cell phone, internet, and cable problems today too, which is unusual. It's like the atmosphere is weird outside, tho' I know that shouldn't affect any of those electronics.

That's a great photo of Sharon and May, Mel. I'm sure it's really special to you.

It was a little chilly this morning and today's high is only expected to be around 80. I'm still feeling bit melancholy but overall I'm doing pretty good today. I was looking through some old photos and came across this one of Sharon and May. It is the last picture that I have of her, taken just a couple of days before she went to the hospital for the final time.
I'm so sorry for your loss! Praying for comfort for you!

I'm so sorry for your loss! Praying for comfort for you!
Thank you.
It has been nearly 6 years since she passed away, and for the most part I have moved on with my life, but every now and then I have a bad day still.
I always miss her, but most of the time I can focus on the good memories.
I'm doing good again now.

"most likely it's because he's a dog." That's FaithyJ, in Edward's opinion. I tell him she barks because she has a lot to say! And that cat that's been accepted by the blankets, well that's Leela. Since it's getting light later, she might open an eye when I get up, but she doesn't move a muscle until I put on my glasses. In July, she's up & running for the back door, the second I toss back the covers. End-of-the-Day Later: Hi, all! Feels like we accomplished a lot together today, Sweetie & I. Didn't get the Tahoe tag renewed, but I can do that Monday. I did get a "courtesy refill" on my synthroid Rx from the clinic my primary care doc has left. No idea what her story is, got a letter from the clinic that she's not coming back in October (as her patients had been told she'd be back by end of October). The gals hanging out in the receptionist area were being pretty snarky and unprofessional in their comments. If I had been considering switching to another doc in that clinic, their behavior would not been encouraging. I hope I don't have to go back there. I'll call the doc who I hope to get in with on Tuesday. but at least I have enough meds to hold me all the way til the first week in February 2020. This afternoon we drove about 20 mi SW of town to show an 18-acre property to a friend of ours who used to be a Realtor at the same place we were for a number of years. He's now working for a casino close-by so that would be a better location. But, the house has an odd floorplan, due to later additions, and needs foundation work, and at least half the acreage is covered in gullies and all grown up. The place is priced well, till you consider all the work it needs. Our friend decided to keep on looking. We came back to town & had an early dinner with a retired friend who we haven't seen in awhile and who is having some health issues that likely will not improve. I'm glad we had the time.
DS came by shortly after we got home. We chatted awhile & then he borrowed the truck. He rented a U-Haul trailer for tomorrow and is cleaning out their garage. His neighbor is taking some of the things he was planning to haul to the dump, and I talked him into putting the 2 bikes on LetGo or some app like that & sell them cheap. We had a good visit.
Hope you're all doing well ... I see we have a new member: crazyauntcyn. I'm wondering if that's cinlynn from old RR/PF boards. I hope she'll post so we can find out. Welcome, crazyauntcyn, whoever you may be!

Good morning! It was another chilly 50 degree morning here, but by this afternoon it is supposed to reach a high of 90. May followed me around until she got her breakfast and then she went back upstairs to nestle down in the blankets on my bed again.

It's 86 this afternoon, and pretty humid. DS and oldest grandson came by to return the truck & pick up the car. They accidentally opened the gate enough that FaithyJ saw her chance and bolted. She loves to run! She may be 11, but she's still pretty fast. She romped across the ballfield and headed for the pasture. DS is pretty fast so chased her down & caught her before she could go through the barbed wire fence. He kept saying, "She has no sense." We agreed - a coonhound's brains are in its nose. That's why they so often get lost. She would probably come back - if she didn't get too far away to start with (head down, tail up till she looked up & didn't know where she was), she's come back to us the last few times she got out. In 8 years, she hasn't escaped often, but it's always a panic when she does. DS said they cleaned out their shed, garage, and even took a few things out of the house. Grandson said they made 2 trips to the dump - wow! You could tell they were hot & tired, having started just before 7 a.m. and finishing up right at noon. DS said he was going home to eat and put his feet up for the rest of the day.

Very strange weather at my parents' place this evening. It was raining hard in the front yard, but completely dry and sunny in the back yard.

That would be one smart dog, to use that big collar as a cookie cutter. FaithyJ either hurt her right hind leg, or she has a sticker burr between her toes or something. She's not wanting to put weight on that leg. She hasn't let me look at it, so far. I'm going to give her a Rimadyl and see if that helps overnight. We did not have to go over to the house we boarded up about a week ago. There's a gal who has some furniture left in there & she asked to get in so she could sell some of it. We agreed. The guy who was supposed to buy it, however, couldn't come this evening so we didn't have to go. I felt like that gave me an extra day in my weekend! As soon as I get the dishwasher loaded & running, I'm going to put together a sweet pepper & tortellini pasta salad for our office BBQ tomorrow and let it 'season' overnight. Hope you're all having a great weekend!

Very strange weather at my parents' place this evening. It was raining hard in the front yard, but completely dry and sunny in the back yard. Your folks' house must have been right under the edge of the rain cloud. We were supposed to have rain overnight, but all we had was one brief shower this morning around 9am. We're now supposed to have heavy rain overnight.

We've been under severe drought conditions for a while here in central Georgia. Praise the Lord we got over an inch of rain last night! Still praying for more rain to bust the drought!
