Oh, my goodness, what an experience your son had! You'll have to let us know if his travel adventure affects the way he sees things here in the U.S. over the next few months.
We had just enough rain overnight to make the everything sloppy outside. The dogs stood on the patio for a few minutes, looking around and looking up at me. I told them I'm not crazy about all that wetness either but they still needed to 'go'.
Taco Cat, eh? I wonder if people work at finding palindromes or if they just "jump out at" them on some occasion. They're pretty neat, but I don't think I've ever noticed any.

A facebook friend (I was her hubby's realtor before they were married) has started a knitting business. She turns out beautiful products. I'm helping her with a little advertising on my facebook page. She's going to knit this for me, using this yarn. We're both excited about the project. I ordered the yarn to be shipped to her house. It's over a week - she messaged this morning to say, "No yarn ". I went into detective mode: called the company, got a tracking number with date & time it had been delivered, called a 1-800-# to the post office & after several minutes of shifting around & not reaching a human, I hung up. Messaged her the info & said I'd go to by the post office this afternoon with questions. ... Shortly after that, she messaged back to say her hubby had not checked the mail. It was there, in the box. I'll bet she schools him when he gets home this evening.

It's really humid! The weatherman said the heat index will hover around 100 for the remainder of the week, though the thermometer will read in the low-to-mid 90s. He shook his head and said he thought he would go looking for a frozen pumpkin spice latte when he got off work today. ... His co-anchor looked surprised and then wondered if there even is such a thing. Well, heh, if frozen coffee is a thing, I expect someone could make a frozen pumpkin spice latte.

Good morning! 2 AM and I'm wide awake. Today would have been Sharon and my 20th wedding anniversary. I'm trying to focus on the good memories, but I'm feeling rather depressed right now.

Those are great photos, Mel. It's so apparent that you and Sharon were the right people for each other and really enjoyed each other. I don't know that the sorrow of losing someone you love ever really goes away. One of these days, you'll get to heaven and I believe you'll find out the reason for the timing of Sharon's passing from this earth. I hope you ended up getting some sleep last night. Sending you a hug!
A good acquaintance is retiring from her position at a local title & closing company. I think she & her husband are moving to a beach location; I'm certainly going to ask her. That company is having retirement luncheon for her today. Sweetie & I are going to drop by and wish her well.

One of these days, you'll get to heaven and I believe you'll find out the reason for the timing of Sharon's passing from this earth. I hope you ended up getting some sleep last night. Sending you a hug! Thank you. I did get to sleep eventually, but I had some rather unsettling dreams. I think that May could tell that something was wrong, because she stayed snuggled up next to me most of the night instead of roaming the house and just checking in on me occasionally like she does most nights. This morning I took my Dad to the drug store and a couple of other quick errands that he needed to run and then had an early lunch with my parents. After that I went out to the cemetery for a little while. Also, Sharon's mom called to check on how I was doing, and I got to have a nice chat with her and with one of Sharon's sisters. Their side of the family are all doing good. I'm still feeling a little down this afternoon, but I'm doing a lot better than I was last night. Our anniversary tends to be one of what I call my "Big three" hard days each year, the other two being her birthday and her death date. This year our anniversary seemed to hit me extra hard. I guess because it was one of the milestone (20 year) anniversaries.

I guess because it was one of the milestone (20 year) anniversaries. I understand that, Mel - those have always been my "Big three" also. Glad you got some sleep and have spent some time with people who are understanding. Pets are really understanding of our feelings! Miss May is surely tuned in to you. edited to add: The retirement party was a good one! Our good acquaintance's dh isn't retiring for a year and a half, and then they hope to buy an RV and travel for a couple of years. She said they expect to find their "happy place" along the coast by then & they'll settle down permanently. I'm happy for her - we've worked really well together and she's been a lot of fun to know. We assured each other we won't be strangers on facebook! It's another steamy afternoon. Sweetie went back to the office & got his materials, came home to have lunch & watch a webinar. There was nothing - not one thing - at the party that he could safely eat. I had half a croissant chicken salad sandwich (too many carbs but not a total disaster). Sat & talked with Realtor from across the hall & it turns out she & I have a lot more in common than we'd known, so that was good.
When I sat back down here at the computer, I realized my post count = my birth year. Thought I'd let that stay up there for awhile.

That's a good one! I'm one who could not text and walk, let alone text and drive. I'm tired - we had a really good cardio class today. I was using the "strong" ankle band, and it broke halfway through the routine and pinged across the room. I know it was because the band was old. The trainer stopped the workout to give me her band, which was strong-1. She took the last band, which was strong+1. When the class ended & we were wiping down equipment, I laughed & told her I'd throw away that pink band for her. She told me no, take it home & show it to Edward - tell him, "See how strong I've gotten?!?" We all laughed. I brought it home & showed him - he had a good laugh over it. It's really hot this afternoon. At 6, it was 94 degrees with a heat index of 105!

It was a little chilly this morning and today's high is only expected to be around 80.
I'm still feeling bit melancholy but overall I'm doing pretty good today.
I was looking through some old photos and came across this one of Sharon and May. It is the last picture that I have of her, taken just a couple of days before she went to the hospital for the final time.
