A group of University of Kansas faculty members is calling for the removal of Chick-fil-A from their campus, saying the popular restaurant is a “bastion of bigotry” and that it makes some students feel less safe. The university has housed a Chick-fil-A in the basement of the university’s Wescoe Hall for 15 years, but this year it moved to a more prominent location: in the student union, which receives far more foot traffic, according to the Kansas City Star. Additionally, the chain now has a larger role at university football games, too, with the coin toss now labeled the “Chick-fil-A Coin Toss.”
The Sexuality & Gender Diversity Faculty and Staff Council sent a letter last week to the chancellor, provost and university community, demanding action against the chain.

Chickenphobia! . . . No kidding! I wonder what it is these flakes triggered students and/or employees are afraid of, being chased around campus by dead poultry? Somebody needs to ask that question: "What is it that complainants fear?" No group should simply be allowed to say they "feel less safe" because this restaurant is on campus. And citing the CEO's past comments and/or religious beliefs does not translate to the immediate location. That's my view of it. edited to remove the name calling & clarify to whom I was referring, so no one who drops by here would be further triggered. . . .

"The Sexuality & Gender Diversity Faculty and Staff Council" Sorry, but I just can't take anyone seriously who can't even figure out the difference between boys and girls.

This sort of foolishness makes me want to have Chic-fil-A for lunch, and I don't even really like chicken. I do however enjoy their waffle fries and Oreo milkshakes now and then.

Chick-fil-A's salads have always been pretty good too . . . even without putting any chicken on them.

Chick-fil-A on Campus Promotes Inclusion and Freedom, Purdue Tells Upset Faculty
Chick-fil-A is facing opposition from some faculty members and students at yet another university, although this time, the administration is standing by the company.
The University Senate is expected to vote in October on a faculty-led resolution that would ensure than any businesses on campus “uphold the same values and promote inclusivity with their policies, hiring practices and actions” as the university does. It doesn’t mention Chick-fil-A by name, although the restaurant is the target.
A Chick-fil-A is set to open on campus in fall 2020. The Journal & Courier newspaper ran an article Monday quoting faculty members and students opposed to the decision. The company is owned by a Christian family and has made donations that have been criticized by LGBT groups.
Linda Prokopy, a professor and member of the University Senate’s Equity and Diversity Committee, told the newspaper that “there are students, there are staff and there are faculty on this campus who are hurting by a decision made by this university” to bring Chick-fil-A to campus.
But on Friday, Purdue released a statement standing by its decision. It referenced a petition signed by more than 3,500 people requesting a Chick-fil-A on campus.
“While we respect and protect the rights of all to express their opinions at Purdue, this clarification is intended to reassure our students and others that this long-requested dining option will not be taken from them and to dispel any impression that Purdue would ever seriously consider such an action,” the statement read.
“We would not be promoting choice and freedom by depriving thousands of people in our community of a choice they have long sought and are already taking advantage of in large numbers,” it added. “And, we would not be practicing inclusion by excluding a completely legitimate business and its staff from our campus.”

I'm proud of Purdue University's administration. I hope they will stand by their decision to bring Chick-fil-A to the campus because it is the most fair thing to do.
If someone - student, faculty, other staff, total strangers walking on campus - isn't comfortable with Chick-fil-A, then they should cross the street, walk around the building, close their eyes, whatever makes them feel less anxious. (I think all of this "feeling uncomfortable, less safe, whatever" is a bunch of baloney, but I can't speak for every last person on earth. I think this is an overall push against Christianity.)
This student body president is entitled to her opinion, but I'm sure most students on campus don't want her gayness pushed in their face. I think David Bergsma states it best. That's the end of the sentence, right there: "Most students couldn't care less, we just want the amazing foor they have."

(I think all of this "feeling uncomfortable, less safe, whatever" is a bunch of baloney, but I can't speak for every last person on earth. I think this is an overall push against Christianity.) In regard to faculty, staff, etc, I believe that you are right. "Total baloney" to put it far more nicely than it deserves. But on the other hand, many of the students most likely do genuinely feel unsafe and scared because of the way that they have been basically brainwashed from early childhood by their teachers and other supposed "role models" to accept the liberal godless victim mentality. Any young people who did not have a strong Christian (or at least strong traditionally moral) family background are easy prey for the perverted liberal worldview agenda.
Modern education methods seem to me to have much in common with cult indoctrination techniques.
Hope that made sense the way I worded it.

On a lighter note, I find it very funny that a chicken restaurant is being defended by a school named "Perdue". Yeah, I have a weird sense of humor.
