My Dr called last evening. I had to go back to the hospital lab this morning for more blood work. Evidently the Dr didn't like some of the results of the tests that I had done a few days ago. It seems that my kidney function has gotten much worse over the last few months since the last time it was checked. I also have to go to see the kidney specialist on Monday. I am a little concerned over the fact that the Kidney Dr could fit me in that quickly. Usually it takes months to get an appointment there.

Praying for your health, Mel. It's chilly here this morning - just clicked over to 50 degrees, not supposed to get much warmer today, and we have more rain forecast for the afternoon. We had a line of thunderstorms roll through at 2:30 a.m. That stirred up the dogs. We're heading to that small, old town in the mountains this morning to attend a funeral. The deceased was a resident basically his whole life. He & Edward weren't close friends but Edward knew him from as far back as he can remember. The man would have turned 69 in a week, if he hadn't been beaten to death in a barroom brawl. The guy who was the attacker is in the county jail on a first degree manslaughter charge. That guy is in his early 30s. I know the deceased was a regular attendee at the bar, so likely drank too much, but that doesn't make his death at another's angry, drunken mind acceptable. We are going to the funeral out of respect and friendship with those who remain of the deceased's family. His parents, who I was close to, have been gone several years. One aunt, who Sweetie & I were both close to, has also passed on. His sister, who is between us in age has done all of the arrangements, and she's pretty torn up - she and Edward have been texting a lot this week. So ... we are heading out. The funeral starts in an hour. See y'all later this afternoon.

It's been a quiet day here for the most part. I didn't feel like cooking, so I got a steak and cheese wrap from Subway.

It was cold all day, and rain poured part of the the time. I turned up the heat this evening so we get the house warmed up. The funeral-memorial service mashup was pretty good. The church was packed. We saw people we hadn't seen in 20-25 years. The preacher was from a cowboy arena church north of here, but he knew several of the local folks because he formerly pastored the cowboy church a couple of miles north of the church where today's service was held. He was a good speaker, tho' Sweetie thought he was a little long-winded because, after all the story-telling was done by people in the audience, he basically preached a sermon, touching on the deceased's positive life decisions to accept Christ & be baptized, and ended with encouraging all of us attendees to assess our lives and go forward with the goal of living more for God to be seen through our lives. The sharing of stories from the deceased's life was pretty good. His best friend told a story about him out-fishing some guys who were angling along the creekbank for trout when all he was interested in was catching a couple of bass for dinner, and his step-granddaughter told a story of him taking her hunting for turkey - they didn't see any, but he didn't want her to come home empty-handed, so he talked her into shooting a turkey buzzard out of the sky since, after all, it was 'a kind of turkey!' She also told a story about him and her spending a summer going to yard, garage, and estate sales because he was looking for car jacks to use in leveling his house. We all laughed at each of those stories. When we got back to town, we were hungry - we had missed breakfast beforehand, and it was by then after 1:30. We decided soup & salad from Olive Garden would hit the spot so we drove across town and enjoyed the endless salad bowl and pasta fagioli soup. It was thunderstorming when we got home, and we were cold & wet from running through the rain, so we each took a nap. I had to handle a front door lock that the tumbler had fallen out of for a tenant before I could lie down to sleep , but at least I found one of the contractors who could run by her house & fix the lock for her pretty quick. Neither of us felt like doing anything this evening. Sweetie fixed us each a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner and I paid some bills online. I'm about to head to bed & see if I can get a good night's sleep! Hope you each and all sleep well tonight too.

Good morning! It is a chilly 46 here, windy & heavily overcast. The furnace is running at the moment. It is a chilly 37 degrees here this morning. That's definitely cold! DS texted a couple photos from the Denver Broncos Mile-High stadium yesterday. It snowed there Friday evening from 5 pm till nearly midnight. They'd hoped it wouldn't stick, but of course it did. Lol Hope y'all have a blessed and better-than-expected day.

We've "warmed" up to the mid-50s by this point, 1:00 in the afternoon. Lol
How's everything where you are, Jeanette?

Good morning, Jeanette! Good morning, Mel! It's 55 at 9 a.m., but the ground is still soaking wet so it feels cooler than the air temperature. We may reach 70 this afternoon. 75 is the average high here at this time of year - the chief meteorologist was assuring us, "it's not that bad out there, we're 'almost' in the normal range." Milo really does some goof things. I walked out on the patio yesterday afternoon and there laid the blade off of a kitchen knife - steak knife size blade, but not serrated. I walked around the backyard looking a chewed up handle, but didn't find one. I brought the blade in to show Edward & he tossed it in the trash. He decided it must have been the knife he cut the avocado with at breakfast. This morning, Milo was up before the alarm and threw up two little piles of black plastic. I cleaned it up and told Edward to, "Watch him!" today. The pieces were fairly soft so hopefully won't cut up his insides. He acted like he felt fine, and he went on to eat breakfast. I don't know about that dog - just when I think these dogs have outgrown 'dumb stuff', one of them does 'dumb stuff'. Hope y'all have a great Monday!

Your knife story made me think of that old National Geographic TV show "My Dog Ate What?"
