Hi! Hope everyone's Saturday is going well. We've had a mixture of weather. A short thunderstorm at 5 a.m. this morning; a heavily overcast day till late afternoon & then a burst of sunshine. Now there's a severe t'storm warning for various parts of the area. After a week of high 'feels like' temps over 100, it's only 71 this early evening. That's pretty wild. Edward & I met some friends this afternoon at the eastside VFW to attend a spaghetti dinner that was a fundraiser for "Rainbow Bridge Can Wait", one of the animal rescue shelters here in the SW portion of the state. We had a really good time, just sitting around & chatting. They'd only brought 2 dogs, and they are really cute pooches - a bonded pair that need adopted together. Not quite what we were looking for, but that's okay. We're thinking of going to the next city animal welfare shelter adoption event. I'm going to try my hand at baking a blueberry-lemon pound cake this evening. First thing we had to do was stop by a store where I could buy a new hand mixer. We did that on the way home awhile ago. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

Good morning!
Praying for your recovery, Mel.
DH & I got a couple of chores accomplished yesterday!
I planted flowers that I had bought from the clearance racks on Friday. Yesterday was a cloudy type of day, which was good for me to do yard work. I was almost done, trimming the dead parts of the hosta plants when I was stung by a brown wasp. Thankful I’m already in antibiotics. This time it was on my left thumb. I really hate these things! DH & our neighbor have both been stung this week while mowing again. I bought a case of foaming wasp & Yellowjacket killer that these guys have been putting into the many ground holes/nests around the yard.
DH finished cleaning the rest of the windows on the house.
All of the fingerprints on the patio doors & windows are officially gone from when the little grands were here. They had left mid February. la smile
Afterwards, we headed to DD#1, picked up some Jersey Mike’s & had a short visit with her & her two kiddos. It was nice to see them and touch base. Praying re her work drive & health.
Once home, a bit more chores before bed.
May you all have a blessed Sunday!

Good morning! I made it back home. May spent most of the night curled up on my lap. She keeps trying to put her head into my sling to rub her face against my bad hand for some reason. It looks like we are in for a sunny and hot mid 90s day here, but at least the humidity isn't too bad. Hope you all have a happy and blessed Sunday!

Happy Sunday, all! Happy you're back home and back here, Mel! Continuing to pray you heal well. Miss May was probably wanting to bring you comfort and healing. She probably sees herself as your caretaker - and since you were gone a few days, she has to figure out what's going on. I that cat! We had so much rain yesterday, and mostly overnight, that several creeks are out of their banks, and low spots around people's yards are filled with water. Our old pool, which had been a dry hole in the ground for awhile, is now filled with water up to the bottom of the lowest step into the shallow end. Leela finds all that water ^^^ a bit perplexing, but she's been running straight down the steps & into the pool anyway to look for frogs. There are at east 3 of them that have come out of hiding and been singing since around 10 last night. She'll go in till the water touches her belly & no farther.

Sweetie has been finding and spraying yellowjacket nets up under the eaves. He still has one to spray & knock down on the back patio. Some kind of wasp or hornet is digging holes in the dirt between the pavers on the back patio. I'm not too crazy about that - they're big & thick bodied, and were flying right at me earlier today. I'm going to fill in their holes afterwhile & see if that runs them off. I need to Windex the front door glass - it has nose prints all over the bottom 1/3 of it. We have rain in the forecast all week, through Friday. Really hoping that doesn't come about. I've run in & out this morning so now I'm going to take care of some housework. See y'all later!

Good morning! Looks like we are going to have a very hot and humid day here. And the next several days are also forecast to be in the mid to upper 90s with very high humidity. Last evening, one of the young men from my church came over and mowed my lawn for me. It really needed it. The day I had my accident almost two weeks ago was the day that I had been intending to mow. So the grass and weeds were really out of control by now. He wouldn't even let me pay him for the work he did. of thanks. I saw this cartoon on Facebook and had to chuckle because I know someone who actually had this happen with a new fan/ light fixture that they had just gotten:

Happy Monday! It's up to 80 at present, and humid. The results of all that rain that fell over the weekend is still largely with us in many areas. 2 of the 3 major routes across this town were closed yesterday for being underwater, at least for a time. Many of the floodgates at 2 of the major dams in this area (on our drinking water lakes) are open, which of course adds to the flooding. Rain is in the forecast for the next 5 days, but we're hoping that doesn't happen. I'm on the phone listening to a slightly different travel package sales agent ... I normally cut off salespeople, but she's really good. Not that I'm going to buy, but this is a lifetime package with transferability. She's offering me trips to Israel and Japan as bonus trips. Wow! We were outside earlier spraying a foamy wasp spray onto the ground wasp holes on the back patio. Hope that cures that problem! Hope y'all have a great day! later: we spent a couple of hours at the cell phone store, late this afternoon, and now have new phones. Fun & frustrating stuff. We'll get things all worked out, surely. I've got to walk these dogs outside & then go to bed. Hopefully, the plumber will come between 11 & 3 tomorrow and fix the water heater problem.

Good morning! It's calm outside ... a little humid too. We had some rain overnight, but apparently not too much. Edward tossed the board into the pool that the frogs like to sit on. I'm sure they'll like it. edited to add: That board is a 1" X 6" that's about 6' long. It was a piece left over from something we had worked on. Edward got the idea to toss it in the old pool after we'd had some days of torrential downpours a few years back. The poor frogs were struggling to avoid drowning as they had very little vegetation to hang onto, and the only dry spots were on the pool steps. They really appreciated the addition of the board. Those frogs would set on it in the sun for awhile & then get back in the water. After watching a couple of young frogs paddling frantically in the water, I asked him if he'd put the board back in the water this morning and he did. We really enjoy watching the frogs, and Leela has blast chasing them around, so we don't want anything to happen to them. I'm going out back in a little bit to see if any have made their way onto it. I inadvertently password protected my phone as I was finishing the set up. Now I have to figure out how to undo that. It's not a crisis, but it is annoying. Yes, I am working on keeping my perspective today about a number of things.

A couple of days before my surgery, my poor old Windows 7 Laptop finally gave up the ghost.
I've known for a while that it was failing. It just kept getting slower and slower; and for the last year or so it had to be kept plugged in, because it just wouldn't hold a charge any more.
After comparing prices and features, I decided not to get another Windows machine. Instead I decided to go with one of those convertible type Android based computers that can be used as either a laptop or a tablet.
I'm still figuring out how to work some of the features, especially some of the things that work a bit differently depending on whether the keyboard is attached or not, but I am liking it pretty well so far.
Best part is that it is only slightly smaller than my old computer, but it only weighs about 2 1/2 pounds, so moving it around as needed with my one good hand is no problem.
That old laptop was surprisingly heavy for its size.

99 degrees here at 5 PM. That's hot! I'm not sure it's made it to 80 here today. It's been really strange for a few days. We're still having little downpours. The plumber didn't come as scheduled; I can't get anyone on the phone at his company #. The home warranty company apparently has merged or been bought out by another home warranty company. I can't get a human on the phone at that company; I cannot log into the customer portal to check my account because it's telling me an "unknown error has occurred". I feel cut off from people I really need in touch with. My friend in VA & I have both filed PayPal claims against the company we ordered freezedried food from because they took our money & didn't ship. Her case was resolved today so she's burning up the airwaves texting me to tell what to do. I'm doing what PayPal is telling me to do. I finally told her it's okay, I'm following directions. She's still blahblahblah. I've shutdown my cell phone for a little while. I'm heading in the kitchen to fix dinner because I'm really angry and I need to do something I enjoy that works - cooking is it! I did turn off the electric at our shop over at the apartments. That was a plus. I did not get to the post office to check our p.o. box however. I am expecting a check from a charity to catch up past due rent for a set of tenants and it would be really nice if it arrived today. I may still go downtown & check before dark. That's a really good looking computer, Mel! I hope it gives you several years of good service.
