Good morning It's 57, with rain moving our way from the west. Later: we had 2 thunderstorms, the second right overhead with huge booms of thunder. FaithyJ is not afraid, she seems to think that's great sleeping weather. She likes a quiet, dark spot so she settled for sleeping on the far side of the front bedroom - between the bed & wall. She just now woke up and came looking for me - she's wanting breakfast. Hope you're all doing well.

Well, I went to the commissary and to Wal-Mart this afternoon. I think I should've taken that guy in the meme you posted, Mel! Lots of shoppers, but not nearly as much food as there needed to be at either place. There was plenty of toilet paper at the commissary so I picked up a package. There was almost no canned dog food - I bought a pack of 6, plus 4 single cans. I know Fran & Leela can eat just fine on dry food, but FaithyJ can't because of her teeth. There was only slightly more at Wal-Mart. I think I bought 18 cans there. That will get all 3 through the rest of this month and into the second week of December, or close to that. Well, y'all stay warm tonight, and I hope everyone gets some sleep. It is cooling off here, and probably will be down into the mid-30s overnight. We had some terrible weather forecast, but it appears to be staying north of here and rapidly moving east.

Fauci, what a bad man. I'm watching Tammy Bruce interview Dinesh D'Souza. I really admire that man. It's really turning cold outside. Fran - our wild dog of the north country (in her mind ) - has been out back barking, maybe with the coyotes. She just came bounding into the office, tail wagging & wearing a big grin, and flopped on the floor. Probably the right moment to close the doggy door.

Good morning ~ Well NC’s governor has decided that masks must be worn all the time everywhere also ~ including while exercising at the gym ~ etc he’s limiting more & more similar to all the other dictator governors. Kiddos must start wearing masks all the time too. enforcers & people turning in others . America appears to be turning more into a place that unless Jesus intervenes and calls us up to meet Him in the air, we will be under persecution similar to the other socialist countries. May the indwelling presence of God’s Holy Spirit equip & enable us to stay the course and share the Blessed Hope we have because of Jesus! Grouphug

May the indwelling presence of God’s Holy Spirit equip & enable us to stay the course and share the Blessed Hope we have because of Jesus! Grouphug I certainly never expected to see things like we've seen in 2020 in my lifetime, or even in my son's lifetime. Praying in agreement with you, Jeanette, for perseverance to the end.
The mayor decided at yesterday's city council meeting that he needs to have talk with the public school superintendent about holding virtual school the week after Thanksgiving so any kids who contracted covid over the holiday (because their families wouldn't stay home & have a small dinner as directed by the CDC) might show symptoms before returning to the classroom & infecting others.
Yes, the mayor is wanting people to report non-mask wearing people and businesses that are not enforcing mask wear. The police dept said a few months back when the mayor & mayor pro-tem pushed the mask mandate into a city ordinance that they would not enforce it, so I don't know who the mayor expects to issue fines now.
I'm praying Jesus will return in the air to call us up soon.

Mel, continued prayers for your Mom & you. Keeping you and your Mom in my thoughts and prayers this morning, Mel. Thank you. Our Governor put out another set of even stricter "advisories" restricting gatherings of any kind on Monday, but we went ahead and had Dad's service today as planned. It was small, about 12 people plus the funeral home staff, but that is still more than was technically allowed. Also, regardless of the Governor's mandatory mask rule, I insisted that masks be optional at the funeral though most of the people there wore them anyway but they had the choice not to wear them if they didn't want to. Not much as civil disobedience goes, but I felt I had to say it. In any case, the service was outdoors and there was more than enough room if anyone wanted to make sure that they were maintaining the recommended 6 foot social distancing. It was a little chilly at the cemetery (about 50) but otherwise a beautiful day.
The service was conducted by our church's Congregational Care Minister Casey rather than Pastor Adam because Dad and Casey were good friends so I asked for him to do it.
The service was very nice. Pastor Casey gave a nice tribute to my Dad and a brief sermon based on Revelation chapter 21 and ended with a clear presentation of the Gospel. I'm 99% sure that everyone in attendance is already a believer, but it never hurts to "spread the Word" just in case.
One thing that amused me a little was that Pastor Casey commented to me after the service that even with all the funerals that he has been to and officiated at over the years, he had never seen a casket the color of Dad's but that he really liked the way it looked. I just picked one that was within our budget that I thought was pretty. Edit to add: I know that photographing my Dad's burial might seem strange or morbid, but I wanted to document things for my Mom since she wasn't feeling well enough to travel to the cemetery today and she was concerned to be sure that everything was handled properly.

Thanks for sharing about your Dad's funeral, Mel! Sounds like it was very nice. I don't see anything wrong with taking some photos, or even a video. That is a beautiful casket! ... You made me chuckle with your act of civil disobedience. I'm proud of you! That's so awful that the Governor believes he has that much power. We found an electric can opener today that the business parts come off of for cleaning. The whole subject of opening cans & jars has become a big deal at this house, between the arthritis in my hands and the shoulder problems Edward has. He also picked up a jar wrench, and it will fit the jalapeno jar. Yay! Y'all have a great evening - I'm doing some laundry & light housework, making sure everything is ready to start cooking in the morning. edited to add: It's supposed to be 70 tomorrow, maybe, but a cold front may show up at some point. There is snow on radar to the NW of us - but quite aways off, so I doubt we'll get any, tho' stranger things have happened. I'm wondering if the weather models have totally confused the weather team today, or what.

Good morning! It is a cool and rainy morning here but not too cold. Our high this afternoon is supposed to be around 60. Then the next few days are forecast to get down into the 30s and 40s. I love those Viking cats from the land of ice and snow! I need to get May a hat like that! Mom and I aren't having a big traditional Thanksgiving meal today since it is just the two of us this year, but I thought that I would make us a big pan of lasagna for our dinner. You made me chuckle with your act of civil disobedience. I'm proud of you! That's so awful that the Governor believes he has that much power. Dad was very much opposed to the mandatory masking stuff. Like me, he usually wore one if he had to go to the Dr or a business that required them in order to avoid making trouble, but he would absolutely not wear them outside or in his own home even after those things were mandated. And when anyone came to visit (even the nurses and therapists who came to the house to work with him and Mom), he would tell them right away that they could keep their mask on if that made them more comfortable, but it was OK with him if they wanted to take it off.
Praying for all needs of our members and their loved ones today, and wishing you all a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.
