This lady was a remarkable woman who accomplished a number of "firsts" in her life.
Born in Texas, she bucked a lot of opposition to become degreed in her chosen career field, which involved helping people. She was also a political activist and noted speaker. She married outside of her race, and was active in opposing a medical procedure that was gaining popularity at the time.
(It's hard to say anything about her without giving away exactly who she is, lol)

That's Mildred Jefferson. I remember her. Very pro-life. She was a very big deal in Massachusetts in the 70s and 80s. She even made an attempt to run for office but, as I recall, didn't get far.

Yep, that's her. She had a very active life - first black woman to graduate from Harvard medical school; married a white man in 1963; and was busy in the Right to Life movement by 1973.

This woman waged an epic battle to preserve the Florida Everglades. Lived to the age of 108.

Yes it is. That was quick. Well, it was a totally random guess based entirely on the number of times I've heard people wondering, "where in the world is RBG?!?" over the past couple of weeks. She was top of mind, so I thought it might be her. The next guy has been active in the entertainment industry since the 1970s. Now mid-60ish, he earns his money through a security business that he owns and operates, guarding VIPs and traveling executives. ~ attachment removed by original poster ~

Can you make it any easier! That's Sam Jones as Flash Gordon. Some Flash Gordon trivia...Jones was either unavailable for, or refused to participate in, (I forget which) post production of Flash Gordon so all of his lines were over-dubbed by another actor. That's why his dialog sounds so strange. As silly as the final product is I love that picture!

Can you make it any easier! That's too funny, Scott! I found Sam Jones in that incredibly long article on Celebs from the Past. I had no idea who he is and the movie name wasn't in the paragraph that followed his photos. No, I did not recognize the costume. I no more than finished the post than Edward walked up behind me and said, "Oh, I know that guy!" He went on to tell me that he was sure you and Mel would know him in a heartbeat! The Queen theme song, "FLASH! -- a-ah --" is what I ended up singing till I went to bed. First thing Edward asked this morning was whether you or Mel had posted in this thread yet. Edward also said that I should have posted the "now" photo of Sam Jones. This one: ~ attachment removed by original poster ~

Yep! Sam today would have been difficult. Here's a 1940s couple from the silent movie era. Though far from being household words today in their prime they were hot stuff, the husband especially. He was one of the three most popular comedy actors in silent films. The other two were Chaplin and Keaton. Name husband and wife.
