A restaurateur, but not a very good one. He owned a string of burger joints but had to borrow money from his pal, Howard Hughes, which he never paid back. As if that weren't embarrassing enough for his more-or-less politically successful older brother, this younger brother was later involved again with some shady dealings along with Howard Hughes in Central America. To protect himself, the older brother engaged the Secret Service to wiretap this younger brother's phone so he could keep tabs on his whereabouts and his pursuits.
Originally from Scranton, PA, he was at one time a 3rd-string quarterback for Penn State U. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was stationed for a time at Great Lakes Naval Station. After the war, he got into the textile business in Chicago. It was believed that he ran the entire Chicago mob or a time.
More importantly, he fathered 3 children, all of whom are known nationwide and even worldwide for their own business and political pursuits.
