No, it is not Flash Gordon and not Buster Crabbe, although many of the props used in that scene including our man's outfit were recycled from the 1940s film serial "Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe" (In fact, he is wearing the very same costume that Crabbe wore in that serial with minor alterations).
The scene in question is actually from the first episode of a popular long running 1950s TV series.
That was the only episode of that series in which our mystery man appeared, although his character was occasionally alluded to in later episodes.

Is this Robert Rockwell, who played Jor-El, the Kryptonian who was Superman's father in the first TV episode in 1952?

Your clue about a long running TV show in the 1950s took me to the right info, I just had to wade down through a couple of articles till I found a labeled photo. I'll post someone tomorrow.

This is a very smart woman, who happens to have a great set of legs, which are called out in a category of her photos. You'll know who she is without many clues. Just watch TV news at present.

An animal psychologist who was something of a media sensation in the 70s and early 80s for her work with Apes. Bonus points if you can name the famous Gorilla she is working with in the photo.

The ape is Koko, but that is not Jane Goodall.

I think she's Francine "Penny" Patterson, and she's teaching Gorilla Sign Language (GSL) to Koko.

That was a tough one, but it was my own fault because I instantly thought that was a young Jane Goodall. I've got someone in mind ... I'll post her tomorrow.

This gal was ahead of her time, battling for her position to run a research laboratory. She worked in crystallography, among other topics. Had she been around here in the early 21st century, we might be ahead of the game in coronavirus research.

She's been considered an icon of feminism, in later times, but her family members say that term never crossed her mind, back in the day. She was simply herself, doing her own thing her way ... it just so happened that being a scientist is a male-dominated area was the who/what she was.
