Miki Sudo didn’t disappoint Saturday. Sudo entered the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest as a heavy favorite to win the women’s competition, and exceeded those lofty expectations. Sudo, 34, finished with 48 1/2 hot dogs. That figure broke the record for the most hot dogs eaten during the women’s event. Sudo’s previous personal record was 41 hot dogs. With the win, Sudo passed Takeru Kobayashi, who won six Nathan’s contests. It was Sudo’s seventh straight win at the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Prior to the event, Sudo told organizers she preferred to compete outside, and wasn’t a fan of the new format. Due to the threat of coronavirus, the contest took place inside. Competitors were separated by plexiglass barriers. Judges sat six feet apart while watching the event. Music was pumped in to inspire competitors to keep eating. Members of the production crew cheered on the eaters for extra motivation.

48 1/2 hot dogs!
And Miss Sudo is not a large woman! I'm a pretty big guy, but 2 hot dogs is usually my limit, maybe 3 if I'm not having anything else. And even at that I feel very full.

And she ate those hot dogs in 10. Minutes!! I can eat 2 hot dogs, if I'm hungry, and that's the meat of the meal, and I'm not eating them with buns. If I have to eat it on a bun, 1's my limit - and I'm full from the bread. Those competitors probably have tricks for getting ready to compete - ways to empty their stomachs & bowels. Competitive eating - that's not really my idea of a sport, but probably money to be made doing it.

75 hot dogs!!! Oh, I know! I can't imagine it! I saw him on the 6 o'clock news, and also Miki Sudo. It just leaves me shaking my head in disbelief.

I was telling Maria that I MIGHT be able to eat 8 hot dogs without puking my guts out. I can't imagine 48-1/2. How many pounds of hot dogs is that? Eight?

I was telling Maria that I MIGHT be able to eat 8 hot dogs without puking my guts out. I can't imagine 48-1/2. How many pounds of hot dogs is that? Eight? Depending on which variety of Nathan's Hot Dogs were used for the competition, there could be either 6 or 8 dogs per pound.
So 48 dogs would be either 6 or 8 pounds, and 75 dogs would be either 9 1/3 or 12 1/2 pounds.
And of course each hot dog bun would add another 2 oz or so to the total weight.
What amazes me is that neither the male nor female champion is all that big! Where are they putting all that food?
