Bwahahahahahaha Oh, Mel, that's too funny! It's absolutely the perfect sport for this fall! <-- I seriously doubt we're going to have a consistent season of any college sports, like football and basketball. (you know me, I don't give 2 hoots about pro sports of any type. ) It's been a frustrating day that has turned out better. Finally got a text back from our lawn mowing guys - they're in the middle of something but will mow in the next couple of days. And then, one of the largest rental managers in town called us this afternoon with a referral to a long-time owner of 32 properties, a man who now lives in TX. Yes, we will be happy to work on listing properties for him. Edward & I have had fun sitting here looking up these properties - many are low-end (rundown, in old neighborhoods, probably empty); a couple are once-beautiful homes in an area that has gone commercial (they may be under contract to be developed). It's all interesting & we appreciate it. Sweetie's showing a house at 6:30. I'm going to ride over there with him, and then we're going out 'somewhere' to dinner. No, we don't know where at the moment.

Those poor pigeons don't look too happy! We had a great evening! That's a neat house that Sweetie showed; built in 1972, with a converted garage. It's about 1700 sq ft. The couple liked it, for the most part, but the husband has a couple of itches he needs scratched. After that, we found our favorite Mexican restaurant is open for dining in. Edward was in the mood for Thai food, but we couldn't get either restaurant on the phone so we don't know what was going on with them. We were happy to sit down and enjoy some tasty, unpretentious, Mexican food. I had a shredded beef quesadilla and brought half of it home for tomorrow. It was huge. The waitress asked if we wanted to try their new habanero pepper salsa? Sure! She cautioned us that many cough when they take their first bite because the spicy heatedness catches them by surprise. No problem. We both had a few bites through the meal. It was hot! But it had such a good flavor, and lots of cilantro in it. I actually wore contacts this evening. First time since March 17th. I'd read a couple of articles about how wearing contacts could allow greater opportunities for entry of the covid-19 through a person's eyes. I'd read a 3rd article that had pooh-poohed the first 2, where the head doctor at some teaching hospital's ophthalmology department was interviewed. He said, basically, "you wash your hands before inserting your contacts; you wash your hands before removing your contacts. There should be no problem with wearing contacts." I'm going to wear contacts tomorrow too. I'll be going to the commissary so I'll have to mask. Surely it will be more comfortable to wear a mask without glasses getting involved.

Good morning! It is another hot and humid day here. This afternoon's high temperature is forecast to be 96 with a heat index of 104. A lot of the dine in restaurants and bars here that were finally allowed to reopen in the last week or so are being forced to shut down again because of the minuscule spike in alleged Covid-19 cases. Our local July 4 fireworks display is being postponed until September 7. One of the nurses that has been coming to the house to help with Dad was telling us that her husband is a teacher at one of the local schools. It seems that as of now the school district's tentative plan for the next school year is for most of the students to attend class in person one or two days per week and do online home schooling the rest of the week. I stopped at a little convenience store up the road from my parents place to grab a few things that I couldn't get at the grocery store yesterday and they had Orange Creme-cycle M&M's

I'll bet those M&M's are tasty. Pretty hot 'n humid here too. I'm about to go grocery shopping. Mask-wearing. At least it's only mandated on Ft. Sill, and that I can understand moreso than other places. I was at the gym at 7:45 this morning, and it was nearly empty the whole hour I worked out. The other 2 guys didn't seem to know each other - there was no conversing among the 3 of us. I've done all sorts of things today, but just sat down & chilled for a solid hour, catching up on reading FB. School is planned here for 5 days/week, in-house. I hope that works out! DS, L & the kids are heading to her sister's in NE Okla for the weekend. I'm praying they have a safe, relaxing, good time! There may be a miniscule up-tick in positive cases here, considering city employees were highly encouraged (told to get it done?!?) to attend free testing yesterday.

Hope you each and all have a peaceful, relaxing, and enjoyable celebration of our country's independence. It's only 83 here, at 10 a.m. but the air is smotheringly hot. There's no wind. We really need that wind to come sweeping down the plain this afternoon!

Are you having explosive thunderstorms resulting from the heat, Mel? Here that's what we get when there's enough moisture in the air and high heat. Sweetie made a batch of pancakes this morning. He mixed together the last 1/2 cup of a low-carb mix I had on hand with some of that Aunt Jemima mix I picked up a couple weeks ago. We laughed through it - the directions on the 2 mixes were very different, but he's a good cook & the cakes turned out great. I mixed up a batch of barbecue sauce from scratch and poured it over a small, boneless turkey breast in the crockpot. I laughed about that too - it fit great into the smaller crock, which is maybe 2-2.5 qt. I must have been feeling sorry for myself when I bought that one. I didn't think we'd need a bigger crockpot after Michael graduated high school. I bought a bigger, oval crockpot a few years back and we use it the most - it holds whatever I'm cooking, with all the veggies. Think I'll start a load of dishes and a load of laundry, even if it's almost peak hours for electric use.

For all of the record breaking heavy rain and flash flooding that we had all spring, the lawns have pretty much dried up and turned brown over the course of the last week or so.
The big official fireworks displays here have been postponed till Fall because of the Covid-19 situation, but several local groups are putting on small displays tonight in various parks and playground etc.
Officials are really warning those groups to be extra careful with their pyrotechnics, because things are so dry right now that it wouldn't take much to start a wildfire in some places.
