That's a great story, Mel! I'm happy the pastor showed up when he did. What would those little kids have done without a mom? I pray for your gal, and that whole program, every day that I go through the prayer list here on PF. Heat is creeping up - it's 'only' 91, but the 'feels like' temp is 101. I walked out and around the backyard with the dogs a few minutes ago, and they did not stay outside long. They're sacked out ready for a nap now.

Good morning! Our area is under a dangerous heat advisory for the next 5 days. Record highs and high humidity are likely every day for the rest of this week.

Good morning. Praying for your health and your parents' health through that heat wave you're in, Mel. Supposed to be in the high 90s to low 100's here most of this week.
Please see the prayer thread for our PF kiddos. Thanks. This Army-trained grandma would like to take a good book to read, a case of water, & an artillery piece and camp out at DS&L's house, but that's not realistic.
Our state primary is today. I early-voted, but Sweetie is going to vote this morning. He has floor duty this afternoon.

I decided I'd get to work and cut the shoots that have come up tall and bothersome off of one of the trees we're trying to kill out at the back corner of the storage shed. I went out a little after sunrise and got on it. It was going real fast, but I heard the trash truck turn into our subdivision. I gathered a big armload of those branches - couldn't hardly see around them, but they're pretty bendable so I knew they'd fit into the top of the trashcart. Raced through the house, telling the dogs to "stay!", through the garage and out to the trashcart, which is on the curb. Got 'em all shoved in and closed the lid. A good 2 hours later now, and the trash truck still hasn't come down our street. I'm wondering if they broke down along the way, or were actually full enough that they had to make a run to the dump and come back. One of my little eccentricities is that I like to see that truck pick up and dump our cart into the back. Oh well.

Hi, Scott! . . . Hope life is treating you well in the Boston area. It's currently 96 degrees here, with a heat index of 108. I ran a couple of errands this afternoon & didn't think it was too bad, but I was only in the direct sunlight for a little bit. I dropped off the recyclables on Ft. Sill. They've moved their location a little way down the street from where it had been locatd for years. Wal-Mart was a busy place this afternoon. I only needed a couple of things so was in & out. What surprised me were the number of shoppers that were wearing masks. That's the most I've seen in masks anywhere other than at the commissary on post. We're not having a big increase in people coming down with the virus in this county, so I'm not sure what's motivated them. It looks like turnout at the polls in this county & the next county east of here has been good as the day has gone on. I hope there's a report on local news or in tomorrow's paper that talks about the numbers of in-person voters.

The extreme liberal majority on the PA Supreme Court sided with Governor Wolf today to keep his shutdown orders in place. He immediately signed a new expansion of the order making it illegal to be anywhere outdoors even in your own yard without a mask. The people of PA in general overwhelmingly disagree with his handling of the virus situation, so he is apparently going to do everything he can to punish his opponents. Conservatives in the state legislature are trying to bring impeachment proceedings against him, but it is highly unlikely that they will have enough votes to do so. It seems that the same Democrats who were hollering so loudly for an impeachment against President Trump just a few months ago are now dead set against any troublemaker who would dare to try to impeach a dully elected Democrat official no matter what he is guilty of.
There is also a lot of chatter on social media the last few days about various Antifa and BLM groups planning to riot in Gettysburg, PA this July 4 to tear up the Gettysburg Battlefield and destroy the Civil War monuments there. I hope it is just talk, but at this point nothing would really surprise me.

Wow, Mel. I hadn't seen that political cartoon, "The Masks Speak". I saw today that Gov Wolf had lost his mind even further than one would have thought possible. The idea that being outside requires a person to be masked goes against anything imaginable. Unless poison gases were in the air, or acid rain was falling, I can't imagine what would be healthier for anyone than to be outside in the breeze and sunshine.
During the pandemic of 1918, medical folks found that the ill recovered quicker, and did better even if they weren't recovering, if they were outside in the sun and fresh air!
I don't know what people can do to beat back this insanity. I am praying God will take these tyrants out of power, on the one hand, and praying people will turn to God in prayer and repentance, on the other hand.
We had a pretty good day around here. Edward went for a colonoscopy consult this afternoon - it's just time to do that again. He goes for the procedure in late July. I met him at Home Depot afterwards and we bought a new garbage disposal. Yay! We're planning to install it over the weekend.

Is it bad that I keep thinking that if (God forbid) Biden wins the election the pandemic will magically disappear the day that Trump leaves office?

I'm seeing this idea all over facebook. However, I'm not supporting Sleepy Joe, even if we have to put up with insanity for 4 more years. I'm praying the sheeple will not give in too. Another scorching day kicking off here this morning. I'm heading out back to clean up the yard. Hopefully my lawn mowing guys will be here before Monday. Texted them yesterday afternoon but haven't heard back.

A little food for thought regarding the supposed spike in PA's Covid-19 cases taken from John Hopkins University:
Note that the total average number of cases is actually way down from what it was in April by several orders of magnitude, and the very minimal increase in new cases that have been found since mid June directly correspond to a massive (more than 3X) increase in the average number of people being tested on any given day.

I am not at all in favor of mandatory masks at all times; but if someone is going to wear one, they should at least wear it the right way.

I am not at all in favor of mandatory masks at all times; but if someone is going to wear one, they should at least wear it the right way. Ahahahahahaha I agree! Drives me buggy to see someone wearing a mask over their mouth but their nostrils are hanging out in the wide open spaces. Okay - I've wrangled with changing my bank account password for over an hour because I'm changing computers. Finally. The gal who answered the phone at the bank was very helpful. I should have simply called her first instead of stewing over why I wasn't getting an email, and why the online questions asked before their system would even agree to send me further info were so screwy (Which of these addresses have you used on your account in the past? None of the Above - I promise you, it's None of the Above!) Speaking of a small spike occurring because of more testing - our city employees are all being encouraged to line up for free testing today. Why? Now - I really, really am going outside to work off some pent-up energy. edited to add: One of our fellow Realtors posted this first-thing today. I need it. “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”” Deuteronomy 31:8
