My favorite Chinese restaurant finally reopened this week after being closed since early March. Yay! Did you go there for lunch today?
We're really wishing our favorite Thai kitchen would open back up for dining-in. We've gone through the drive-thru twice and picked up dinner, but we'd like to go inside, sit down & relax, enjoy dinner, make a little small talk with the owners ... Maybe on the 1st, we don't know.
Somehow, I missed two of your previous posts!

May was checking out my Shrimp Lo Mein, but I don't think that she liked the smell. I see you did go to your favorite Chinese restaurant, eh? It's surprising that May didn't care for the shrimp.

It's surprising that May didn't care for the shrimp. She usually does like shrimp.
I suspect it was something to do with the seasoning in the sauce that she objected to.

We spoke with our family Dr this morning. She is suggesting that it might be time to consider transferring Dad's primary medical provider from their practice to one of the local Hospice/Palliative care agencies given that both his heart problem and kidney problem have reached the point that not much more can be done beyond trying to ease the symptoms to keep him comfortable other than extreme high risk surgery that he has already said that he doesn't want given all of his other serious health issues. This was not unexpected, but still not easy to hear. Praying for wisdom on how to proceed. I'm sorry that your dad's health has reached this point, Mel. It is a tough place to be. We have a Viet Nam vet here who's been a medical doctor for many years - he's one of the best docs around. He's worked with patients & their families in Hospice/Palliative care for a few years now. He has a great attitude toward allowing a patient the freedom to enjoy their lives to the extent possible while keeping them free from pain and dangers around their living area. He did a MedWatch7 segment awhile back in which he talked about this (brief segment in the 6 o'clock news hour). I hope you and your parents find someone good to work with that listens to each of you and is not overly pushy. (I'd never want anything to do with the hospice folks who took care of my mother at the nursing home, her last week or so.) I'll continue praying for you and your parents.

If we decide to go that route, we will almost certainly go with the same Palliative care group that helped me with Sharon toward the end of her life. The specific Dr she had is retired now, but many of the same people that we already know still work there and they were really good with her.

That's good that you have people you're acquainted with/familiar with to turn to! We don't have many here in the field of hospice and palliative care.

Inventorying the pantry was fun - kept me busy for awhile. We are in better shape than I expected with canned goods. I won't have to buy much all summer, probably. Early voting starts here tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. I'm planning to go vote, absentee in person, at the courthouse. It may be interesting. They're only allowing 100 people in the courthouse at a time, but I'm guessing this may not count. I think they've decided to open the north side doorway, which is right by the election board office & the jury waiting room, which they're planning to set up socially-distanced voting booths. I'm game to give it a try! See y'all tomorrow - hope your evening is peaceful.

We got a phone call this morning from the cancer center where Dad goes to get the infusions of his kidney medicine. Tomorrow is the day for his treatment, but because he just got out of the hospital they can't let him into the building at the cancer center due to the Covid-19 rules. So when we get there, I am supposed to call them from the parking lot, and one of the nurses will bring the IV equipment out and give him his infusion in the car. Don't know whether to laugh or just shake my head in disgust... Edit to add: While he was in the hospital, they did not have any Covid patients there; and even if they had, those people would have been in the other building with a different medical team caring for them.

Our society has failed its members in its response to the coronavirus, and continues to fail in its reactions going forward. That's my opinion. Beyond that, .

Hot & steamy afternoon here. We've sorted and dusted the bookcase to the left of the fireplace in the den. Not that there are books there. Books are on the living room bookcases. We found some treasures - old newspaper articles, a recipe for Pecan Cream Pie, a couple of books, and a Pershing missile launch photo. - for all of us who come here regularly and our families and friends, in all needs and concerns. Edited to add: I voted in our local primary election today. There were no local races on it, just a couple of Congressional races - 1 for senate & 1 for a house of representatives seat, and one race for a state corporation commission position. There was one state question with regard to expanding obamacare. I showed up at the courthouse a few minutes after 9 and there was no line. Must have been a half dozen sheriff deputies on duty to control the non-existing crowd. They're a bunch of good guys - I start smiling the minute I see them; I know a couple of them casually. The first one jumped out the door & wave a thermometer at me then held the door for me to "C'mon in!" My ballots were #115 & #116 so I was the 58th person to vote this morning. I'm happy to have voted - it's just difficult to wait for the outcome next week. Scott, have you seen that the Army is rolling out a new set of Army "greens" in 4th quarter of 2020? They're going back to the "pinks and greens" of WWII & Korean conflict days. I think they're gorgeous! This article is a pretty good read, also: www.military.com/daily-news/2020/06/25/general-dons-armys-new-greens-uniform-mark-70th-anniversary-of-korean-war.html

...
I was looking at an email from Green Med that was encouraging writing your senators and representatives to demand health freedom for citizens and not to enforce mandatory vaccination with a vaccine that was rushed to market. There is also an article in that email about how wearing a mask does not supported by science.
This .jpg was in the email as "something to think about".
