It is a sunny and just slightly breezy mid 70s day here. This morning I mowed both my yard and my parents yard for the first time this year. The riding mower has a dead battery, and all the local hardware stores and yard & garden places are closed until further notice, so I had to do it all with the push mower, but I suppose the extra exercise is good for me. I wouldn't normally do both yards in one day, but it really needed to be done (more for the weeds than for the actual grass) and every other day for the rest of the week is forecast to have heavy rain with thunderstorms likely.
I made a pepperoni pizza for Mom and my lunch, and Dad finished off the last of the left over V8 chili from a couple of days ago.

You're welcome, Jeanette - Mel helped, he posted that article on facebook & tagged me. I don't see any way to stop any of the goofy stuff that's going on ... I think we're just going to have to let it wear itself out. I'm praying it doesn't bankrupt people (us included) before it's over. I was reading around the 'net today and I found my 'go to' scripture for riding out the pandemic - it fits me. Thought I'd share it with y'all. Attachment DeletedWe got a lot done today - hooking up electronics, filling up the trashcart here at home for the trashman to pick up in the morning, frying up salmon patties for dinner ... and good ol' laundry & dishes, those are nonstop. I took part in a live webinar on how to deal with stress and anxiety during this pandemic. It was pretty good. There are 2 strategies: Labeling, and Defusion. The focus was on Realtors and Mortgage Lenders, but those processes will work for anybody.
See y'all in the morning. Hope you get outside to see this full moon. Here it's surrounded by a sky full of dark, lower clouds, but there's a good sized hole that the moon is shining through. It's really pretty.

Good morning, PF'ers! Foggy & steamy here, in the low 60 but supposed to reach the mid-80s today. I think anyone who is only mildly sick should go outside & bake in the sun for 20-30 minutes this afternoon. After all, C-19 supposedly can't live in temps above 83 or 84, something like that.
You might want to check out Good Morning America's site today & see if you find Robin Roberts interview with a highly respected virologist who works as a Coronavirus researcher. The opening comment was about how so many people are going through basically a hazmat decontamination process when they return home. What should we be doing?
The research woman said returning home starts when she gets into her car. She thoroughly slathers her hands with hand sanitizer and rubs them till it dries.
When she gets home, she hangs up her coat and puts away her purse (and a third item - can't remember what it was). There is no evidence that the virus lives on cloth or whatever these other items are made of. She next washes here hands with soap & water for 20 seconds.
(She didn't take her shoes off & sanitize them; she didn't change her clothes. I've heard so much about the importance of doing these things, even changing your clothes before you come in from the garage and tossing your coat and clothes into the wash. When she didn't mention doing those things, I heaved a sigh of relief. I haven't been out a lot, but I haven't been doing those things when I have gone out and come home. Have you?!?)
Robin asked her what about washing your hair? (After all, some of the advice I've seen say to take a shower when you first come home.) There was a short video of a woman in the shower, with her back to the camera, washing her hair.) The research woman said the virus is not transmitted through your hair, so no - you don't need to wash your hair.
She said the main thing we need to be concerned with is protecting ourselves from water droplets (being sneezed or coughed on), and being in close proximity to someone who is infected (sounded like 'caring for someone who is infected' - that close of a proximity).
She went on to say the one item we really should disinfect often is our cell phone, because when we use it, it's right up there at our faces - the onscreen shot was of a man's back and he was raising a cell phone to his ear.
That ^^^ was what I got out of the interview. So, watching that definitely dissipated some of the anxiety and frustration I have felt, wondering if I'm doing enough to protect myself and others.
One of the take-aways from the webinar I watched yesterday afternoon was that stress & and anxiety will negatively affect your natural immune system, reducing its ability to protect you. That's a big reason to work on lowering our stress and anxiety levels.
Usable information - not media whipped up fear & anxiety - is what will best serve us as we go through this pandemic.

Why, yes, we have 3 dogs who act just like that cat, Mel! Franny, Ge'dogg, and Leela. FaithyJ is just so happy to have her happy house to live in, with good vet care & tasty food. She's more of a happy follower than a bossy leader. I think she still remembers what it was to be a shelter dog, living in a wooden dog house with a fenced in (small) area, probably eating co-op dry dogfood. We got a lot of work around the house done today, moving & sorting files. We ran an errand so decided, since we were next door, we'd stop at Braum's and pick up a dozen eggs. Sweetie wanted ice cream, so he bought a small container of French vanilla. We went on down the street to a grocery store and I bought a second dozen eggs and 2 cans of whole green chili peppers. I'm going grocery shopping for real on Thursday morning, early - I hope. Our Mayor and City Council had a meeting this morning. Result of that was to ban hunting and fishing on all city lands, lakes, and ponds. Why? This is just over the top, imo - and many other people feel the same way. Many people supplement their food budget by hunting and/or fishing. Many of the lakes here are on city property. The other big thing was that residents must mask when they are out in public. I'm okay with that - I wore my bandanas this afternoon. I need to experiment a little bit to get them rigged better. I want to try putting a long twist tie between the 2 bandanas to make a bendable nose piece. I will be happy when we can have our freedom from this "safer-at-home" business. I know, it could be worse.

Good morning! It is a chilly 45 degrees here this morning, but this afternoon is supposed to warm up into the mid 70s. We had a noisy night here with lots of thunder and heavy rain. Poor scared May was snuggled up next to me all night. We have the mask thing here too since this past Friday. Now the parking lots of just about every store that is still open are pretty well covered with discarded used disposable masks and gloves.
I did manage to get a battery for the riding mower after all yesterday afternoon. A man my Dad knows that repairs lawn mowers and tractors when his business is open was willing to drop one off for us.

Local news is reporting that many of the inmates at the local County Jail are holding a hunger strike over not being allowed visitors due to the current virus fears, and because of not being allowed out of their cells for their regular exercise times, and because most of the guards and prison staff are not following guidlines about wearing masks etc. Also, some of the guards there are being investigated over reports that they have been claiming (presumably falsely) to be Covid-19 positive and deliberately coughing in inmates' faces. What is wrong with people (and yeah, I know the answer to that but still...).

Good afternoon! Local news headline: Little growth in SWOK. That's in reference to confirmed C-19 cases. I wondered if whoever wrote that is disappointed - ? A very unlovely side of human nature is on display in this country that was founded on Christian values. We're up to 44 confirmed cases in this county. Happy to hear you got the riding lawn mower battery, Mel. We went thru the drive-thru @whataburger this morning. It was a nice change. We hadn't been there since mid-March. The young lady who brought out our order yelled, "I knew it was you guys! I recognized the order!" We enjoy her. She's worked there awhile. The young man who took our order was happy to see us too - said he's been wondering how we'redoing too. We enjoy knowing also. Just ran by a listing Edward has under contract. Locksmith was there to change a garage door lock. Beautiful weather today!

Mm, boy, there's not much meat on those bones! I like the one about sending out a dove as well. Oh, my goodness. The funny thing about the Coughy Filter dog ... did you see metroames' fb post of the mask she made for her husband? She put a coffee filter inside of it. I thought that was a pretty good idea! I instantly thought of her when I saw this dog. We went to Home Depot for a sheet of plywood, and to look for exterior entry door locksets. We are changing out all 5 doors with next lever handle locks and deadbolts. Didn't find exactly what we were looking for, but we likely will make a decision about one of the styles. When we left, we boarded up the front door on a 1-BR apt that squatters had broken into. The main squatter is a woman, it appears, and she's a paint huffer. Hopefully, boarding up the place will make her move on.
We have to show a house at 5:30 ... We know the potential buyer - I've sold him a house, and he's has an auto mechanic whose services we use. Don't think this is really the right house, but we'll see.

Y'know, I don't understand the push to "test as many people as possible" for C-19. If a person isn't showing symptoms, why would they go get tested? What are 'they' wanting? edited to add: That ^^^ was in an article in today's newspaper, and it was just mentioned on the 5 o'clock news. Gotta go show that house ... it's in a floodzone, but it's a great house. People should not be allowed to build in a floodzone, imo.
