Hi, All! Good news: that poor, pitiful house the squatters burned out back in November sold on Monday. A construction company out of Texas is the new owner. No idea what they're going to do with it, but it really doesn't matter to me. I'm happy to be shed of it, even tho' it wasn't worth much in its present condition. I hope they never regret their purchase. We're still working on collecting up storm damage reports. It was a busy afternoon, but we got a lot accomplished, and didn't have any pitiful people to deal with. No drama. That was good. I'm about to take out the garbage, and then I think I'll kick back with a cup of coffee and relax. Hope you're all doing well.

Good morning! It's another chilly and rainy day here with thunder storms likely for this afternoon and evening. We certainly need the rain, but these cooler temperatures are really unusual for late June here. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning! Probably going to be a steamy day here ... We had a couple of odd thunderstorms roll through here between 6 and 7 a.m. There wasn't a lot of rainfall, which was good, but there was some. It's 75 out there now but doesn't feel too sticky. It should reach the mid-90s this afternoon.
Well, I'm going to put up some clean laundry and feed these dogs breakfast ... Hope everyone has a great Friday!

edited to add: It's been a nice morning at home. I've only had 1 work-related call, and that was from one of general contractors. He called, all stirred up, convinced that somebody had been in that house he's putting the finishing touches on for the section 8 reinspection. He said there was a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush on the kitchen counter! Y'know, like a squatter had stayed the night there. I chuckled and reminded him, the cleaning lady is trying to get the black marks off the freezer door gasket, and she's having a tough time finding anything that will do the job, so she had smeared toothpaste on it and let it set all night. Oh, yeh, the handyman started laughing too. He remembered that discussion for a day or so ago. He was relieved, and really I was too. Told him he'd done the right thing, y'know, always report odd stuff like that! Okay ... I've gotta head west. Hoping today is quiet too, like yesterday. I have some letters to send tenants, encouraging them to catch up their accounts before July 1st, a handful of lease violations to send to the brawlers at the big apt complex, and a phone call to make to one of the housing authorities. So ... if I can get that done, and handle a few small things that have come up since yesterday, maybe we can leave in peace this afternoon. See y'all later!

Barb: toothpaste & toothbrush call ๐ (Thankful not a squatter!) I'm calling the appliance repairman on Monday and asking him 'what' kind of paint he's used in the past to make a refrig door gasket last a little longer. The cleaning lady & I know we have to make that black blob-looking mark go away because the inspector is just convinced it's mold. As much as it has been scrubbed on, there's no way it's mold. We split a 12" steak 'n cheese sub from Subway for dinner. Had dark chocolate hummus wit vanilla wafers for dessert. I'd never seen a dark chocolate hummus before. Mm, boy, was that tasty! Gotta go to bed - I am sooo sleepy tonight. I love you all!

Hi, all! It's 91 at noon - heading for a high of 103 this afternoon. The heat index is expected to reach 109 this afternoon. I've been looking for recipes that support a Mediterranean Diet, since that is reportedly a very healthy way to eat. I've found a wide variety of recipes that I don't believe would result in a healthy meal. I haven't given up, I have a small collection that I might start trying for dinners. I promised Edward I would not put any sardine sandwiches or octopus salad on the table! He thanked me for that! Hopefully we're actually having baked cod for dinner tonight. I've gotta put a load of laundry in the dryer ... See y'all later! Hope everyone has a terrific Saturday!

Luv that cat's shades! At 5 pm, it's 99 with a heat index of 109. I just ran to Braum's for some fresh produce, and they had what I needed, except for avocados. Now I'll start dinner. edited to add: It's now 6 p.m. and we're sitting at 101 on the thermometer - first time we've broke 100 this year! The heat index is at 111. It still needs to dry up - we need some wind.

It was "Great Adventures in Cooking" here, late this afternoon. We had Baked Lemon-Garlic Cod; and Greek Fries with homemade Tzatziki Sauce. That was work, but i had fun. We've done a lot of critiquing the techniques & what I'm going to try to make the process flow smoother next time.
