When she was 7, this gal toured a captured German submarine that was on tour across the US. She knew then she wanted to design maritime vessels. Being female, and black, she had to buck a lot of resistance, but she became an engineer.

She wasn't allowed to touch the big computer in her office, the Univac, but finally all the men were out sick so she jumped over there on the computer and kept work going - proved herself to her superiors.

Is it a show that's currently running on MeTV? (if you get MeTV)

Is this Ian Marter, who played the role of Harry Sullivan on Doctor Who?

Ian Marter is correct. A very talented actor whose life was cut tragically short by complications from unmanaged diabetes.
He was only 42.

It appears he was also a very talented writer, considering he was licensed to write Doctor Who "novelisations" (new word for me). I'll post someone shortly. Hint, hint - you know, you got me reading about sci-fi, so be prepared.

This guy was originally from Memphis, TN. His parents were race car owners. He grew up to get a psych degree, then got into sci-fi work. He's now in his mid-50s, and looks - in this photo at least - like all that travel through space & the adventures that went with that have worn him out! ~ attachment removed by original poster ~

Yes - from Farscape and Stargate SG-1
I wish either of those would launch one more season, or a new spinoff series . . . or even that the sci fi detective show he was supposed to be in would get off of dead center and be on TV.
